Weapons and Armor Expandments

Post » Wed Jan 12, 2011 1:08 am

Yes, yes. I want this to be a separate thread for ideas and suggestions on the different type of armor/ weapons you could get in Skyrim. I say this because in Oblivion, the idea of glass armor was, no offense, but the stupidest idea I think ever thought of. It didn't look good or make any sense come to think of it. Daedric armor was alright, made sense and looked pretty evil if you were a warlord or somebody evil but the fact that it WAS the best armor you could get in game and you had no choice what so ever to get it as a heavy armor wearer before the expansions was [censored] in regards of you could be like a Paladin or some melee fighter that uses heavy armor but would have to run around looking like Hades when you want to look like a divine knight was unbelievably unsatisfying to the eye and motive to play the game. We need more options, like I mean a lot more options. Maybe 18 to 24 instead of like 8. We need armor and weapons from Obsidian, Titanium, Aluminum, Adamantite to the basic Steel and Leather armor/weapons. Those are just a few that I named and if I can name 4 or 5 good ones, Bethesda should be able to name another 12 really good ones but there are so many other types you guys could implement in the game that makes sense and improves the game, unlike the glass armor and weapons. We can now smith in Skyrim but another question that aroused in me was, Are we going to be able to smith the best armor in the game or is it going to be like in Oblivion where you can only obtain the armor and weapons.

They are implementing Blacksmithing into the game so they better make it worth doing. (Being able to forge really good armor and weapons.) Also if we could forge good armor and weapons maybe we have the options to change the look a little.

Also please make the weapons look epic and not dumb like the silver long sword where it only looked like one piece of metal. I hope they make the swords, axes, bows, war hammers, staves, etc. not only have wooden handles and maybe some ropes tied around the handle or bottom of the blade, but stick some jewels in the handles of some or maybe some in the blades instead of the handles. This idea would not only bring spark to the game but give the player a unique and satisfying feeling that they are different with what they wield and use to fight with, which all adds to the motive of playing the game and like towards it.

There is so much that Bethesda could do with this game to make it better and I hope that if they read this it will give them some tips and maybe improvments to the game itself.

Expand, suggest, agree, disagree on this thread about these ideas. Argue ideas and improve them too.

I like it, the more the better. I thought the choosing was quite lame myself in oblivion.

I think this is a great idea myself. Being able to not only have more choices for armor but we can forge some of it ourselves is just great. Also maybe they would put in the game that we can choose between 3 or 4, maybe 5 different types of armor as "the best" armor in the game so we have a bit of a choice and a little bit of sense of we are actually in the game.

What do you guys think?

Alright guys, come up with some super epic names for armor and weapons. It can be separate pieces of armor and weapons or one whole set including the weapons.

What I would like to see is weapons like Oblivion just not every single steel longsword looks the same.
I would also like to see unique rare weapons that can only be found. I don't want another Goldbrand that looks the same as any other katana.
I would like to see armor that could have the same stats and even names but looks different.
I would also like to see the ability to craft both good fur, bone, and metal armor and weapons

1 are u gay, in regards to the gay sparkling jewels you want on your sword.
2 I would rather have a sword with a wooden handle and rope
3 I agree glass armour was stupid looking
4 only swords have been confirmed to be made on an anvil.

The Shivering Isles showed us that there are other types of weapons and armor that exist, so I will be very disappointed if they continue to limit me to iron, steel, silver, orc, elven, and daedric. They should make more mythical weapons and make them rewards for certain quests, so I feel like I'm really working towards something special.

Like an emerald, sapphire or ruby on the bottom of the sword handle?

As long as all the armor sets are properly made, polished and they look good - not to mention works excellently according to your playstyle - then I see no reason why they shouldn't make more of them. As I understand it from Todd Howard, though, we'll have a lot more armor set in Skyrim. Not only the basic leveling system of different armor qualities, but also different armor according to our race as well (not sure, but I think he vaguely mentioned it somewhere).

there are a few things I just need to comment on
1. glass armor is not our glass, it is basically volcanic rock
2. there was leather and steel armor in Oblivion
3.biased poll is biased

also with the amount of armor you have a quality and quantity issue, Morrowind's armor looked absolutly terrible in terms of polys/textures. oblivions was much better probably twice the number of polys, but less armor/weapons

There should be more unique armor and weapons. Less generic "steel swords" and more Umbra's, please.

And please, for the love of Tamriel, include more weapon and armor types, like already mentioned.

I want short bows and longbows. Longbow would be a slower draw but more accurate at longer ranges and more powerful. Short bow would be a quicker draw so it would be faster to shoot but weaker. Also, maybe make so you can look around faster with a short bow, possibly even walk while shooting it.

Different shields. I hated how almost every shield was a buckler in Oblivion. There should be kite shields, tower shields, and bucklers of EACH material not just one model for each. Cause if you are gonna take a breath of fire from a dragon do you want a tower shield with nearly full body protection or do you want a buckler, which will leave you severely burned no matter how you defend yourself with it.

I honestly couldn't agree more.

1-I hated the look of daedra, elven and glass armour. The elven just looked stupid imo, daedra looked like what you described, and glass was green, enough said. I don't care if it's glass forged from a volcano in Morrowind, atleast make it look better. (the ebony armour in Skyrim looks much better in the trailer, though it could be elven). I would love to also be able to craft my armour from about 3 or 4 different styles.
For instance: fone could look badass (like daedra) one could just look practical (like steel armour) or maybe even an option to make anything into chainmail armour.

2-The swords too, should add wooden handles and something soft on the handle for a grip. The only metal on the sword should be the blade. Though, this doesn't bother me too much. (maybe, when crafting swords, you could choose from a few styles of sword as well. That would be neat.)

Good ideas, I hope Beth implements(ed) them, but, not a game ruiner for me. Still gonna love the game no matter what. :obliviongate:
