(Idea) Disguises

Post » Sat Jan 29, 2011 8:25 am

In Oblivion I always wanted to put on Necromancer's Robes and safely wander through their caves. I suppose it could make the game too easy, but no easier than Chameleon, and it could be made harder by enemies seeing your face and attacking "You're not one of us!".

inb4 keep your Hitman/MGS/stealth game out of my Elder Scrolls!

I want disguises to affect the relationship of factions between eachother. I mean, if your a guard and you see a guy from the mages guild magically graffitiing a genital on the wall of the guard tower, youd be pretty pissed at all of them.

This was in New Vegas, maybe Bethesda will take the hint and put this in.

Tweak it frm New Vegas, and yes. Since in NV you could wear the outfit and murder everyone of that faction, and they still love you while it's on.

Besides, I always thought that wearing an entire outfit from a faction would trick them into not picking you out. Or give unique options when talking to people. IE: Wearing an entire Guard outfit will let you accept bribes from people committing crimes. Or allowing you to knock on someones door and demand a "search and seizure" of their stuff.

Hmmm... What about a special quest item - the Goatee of Glamorous Disguise? Fake beards have been sadly lacking from TES games.

Probably because there have been no normal beards. A fake beard would make you stand out like a Golden Saint.

Nice idea, I've not played Vegas but I heard of this feature. I like any idea that can improve stealth, roleplaying and gameplay in general and this one sounds like fun. Also, I'd like EVERY crime that I do while wearing a hood, even in broad daylight and with witness, to remain 'unknown author' if I manage to run and escape the pursuers. If one (guard or not) can outsprint and catch me it makes sense to get +bounty because he took off my hood and saw my face, but otherwise it's ridiculous that everyone in the province knows instantly that it's you the one who silently killed a guard with an arrow, from a safe distance, while being hidden in the dark AND wearing a hood/mask!

This would be great! I'd keep a guard outfit from every city so I could wander into the barracks and get back the things I "stole" (he didn't REALLY want that 13,000 gold staff).

This would make keeping the looted outfits more worthwhile and a fun little aspect. Along with that if for example high ranking members where close that show their position or rank. That way if you pick up am initiate's they can be more tolerant to you while if you are wearing a very high ranking official they treat you with respect and want to please you. Careful if you wear too high a level your face might not be recognized in the higher circles and they do not like impersonators very much.
