[ IDEA ] Imperial serpentines

Post » Fri Feb 04, 2011 2:17 pm

I've just been walking around IC and I noticed something strange. I knew about it all the time but now it was like "oh my gosh, what is that?". Ok, so let's get to it.
Have You ever noticed that road to Imperial city is too http://img715.imageshack.us/i/oblivion201009252039453.jpg/ for any road carriage to make it to the gates? http://img715.imageshack.us/i/oblivion201009252039350.jpg/? http://img715.imageshack.us/i/oblivion201009252040034j.jpg/!
This may sound trivial, but once You think about it, it will ( probably ) start to bug You.
So, what have I done is, that I've made a few serpentines up to the top. It's just quick setup but it get's the idea pretty well. I know that it doesen't fit in to the lanscape because of the rocks, but it was only good way to make it with vanilla resources. Of course some modder could take this idea up and make some better fitting meshes, but I think that it's pretty functional right now. I've even added pathgrids to the top so You can actually see some npc's walking to the top.
Well, tell me what You think about it!

Great idea - I've thought of it myself. One suggestion though: Perhaps you could add som rocks or maybe some sort of wall to the http://img535.imageshack.us/img535/8896/serpentines.jpg of the serpentines, so it will look more man-made. Otherwise perhaps flatten in out a bit.
Otherwise, very good job!

Count me among those who have been bugged by that and plenty of other spots too like the road up the mountain to Chorrol. Couple of spots out there you can't even climb on horseback.

Don't discount your use of vanilla rock for that either. I think it looks just fine and fits in nicely.

Sitting here thinking about it, this would make a pretty nice addition to UL Imperial Isle. Assuming you're ok with that, would you mind linking the ESP?

Yes! I will be glad if You use it in UL ( maybe just give a tiny readme credit? )
Will send You the file over PM.
You should know that this is really just a quick setup, so it will probably be dirty, some rocks may not fit etc., but I think You will handle it
BTW, be sure to rebuild the pathgrids, because I'm quite sure that they are placed badly.

And that thing with the walls... I think I will leave it to Arthmoor from now on :goodjob:

That rocks. Me want. Shame it'll make UL Imperial Isle explode. I mean have land tears.

Well, I have just uploaded standalone version of this mod to Tesnexus for those who don't use Unique landscapes: Imperial isle.

It'll only make UL II explode for a short time. Roughly however long it takes to transfer the changes and make sure it fits in right. Fortunately it shouldn't hit compatibility problems with other mods in the area because that spot at the end of the Talos Bridge is nearly untouched. (I probably just jinxed it now though)

I have noticed that and it bothered me of course. Only nice (hill) road in vanilla game is that one that goes to Kvatch. Pity that there wasn't much reason to go up there.

Your looks good, but you forgot to correct the land shading.

Thanks for comments everyone :)

I've just added some rails to the dangerous spots on the road to prevent any possible carriage to fall down :D

So Arthmoor, if You still want to use this mod in UL:II, then You should probably use this new version i will upload to nexus.

Btw, do You think it's a good idea to make the road a bir wider? Or it's ok like this?
