As far as the body-types and faction not being permanent not being that big a deal I somewhat agree. The faction not being permanent I do not really have a huge issue with seeing as if one side is imbalanced it is nice to be able to switch sides. Also for competitive gaming nice to be able to flip factions on whim. But body-types I believe is a pretty big issue at least in my opinion because like the review said players can change play styles on a whim there is no consequence to your choices. It would be nice to see players stuck with the body type they chose as this would allow those players to become more specialized as that body type as they will become more use to the mechanics for it. Also like I stated earlier it makes each character more individualized which is nice. On top of this the fact you can reset your skills on top of all this makes there really no point at all in creating multiple characters. They really needed to have some of these choices be permanent that way there was incentive to creating different and unique characters. There really is no point when you can do everything with one.

As far as the ranking thing I agree gameplay is more important than a goal but it is nice to have things to work towards as well or to be rewarded for putting in serious hours on a game. For example Killzone 2 added a couple extra rankings which did nothing it just showed other players your commitment to the game and gave you a reward for your investment which is always nice.

I completely agree alot of reviews are biased as they do not spend enough time to actually understand the mechanics and intricacies of the game they are reviewing.

I agree that the body type should be permanent for your char. I meant that faction being permanent isn't really that big of a deal tbh. At any rate I believe you cannot switch body type during a match, only in-between matches. I'd rather not get a reward at the end of playing compared to being rewarded by the game whilst playing. I get what your saying, but, ultimately, you will be rewarded the more you play, because the more you play the better you get at it. Also, don't forget, there will most likely be DLC and such that could increase or add to these things. ATM it seems there is enough meat on this game to warrant the 40€ or so that it costs. To me though, I won't know whether or not its been worth it till I have played it till I get bored of it (meaning I will see my total amount of hours /played), I am pretty sure, though, that it will be worth it. Most games are worth the cost (which, for the entertainment value, is actually very very low compared to movies for example, probably still higher than certain books but not sure on that).

I agree we cannot really judge the game until we get our hands on it ourselves and see if it fits our personal preferences for gaming. with that said however I am just a little let down that there is no consequence to how you decide to create your character. I truly believe some choices should have been permanent for the reasoning listed above but I guess there is nothing we can do about it now.

The only thing besides that what bugs me is what everyone is saying about matchmaking. People playing it continue to say it is difficult to get into matches with a group of friends as well as against actual players. Stating most games start with 2-3 actual players and a bunch of bots on each team. Hopefully if this really is an issue they adjust the matchmaking system to where the match does not start until a MP match is full of actual players then if someone drops out they are replaced with a bot until someone else joins. Also would be nice if they added a party system to join ques in.

I really hope they patch it soon, the game looked so fantastic, yet now having gotten it the gameplay seems almost like a pre-alpha game at best... Fantastic concept, but some serious glitches and such.

Also I though that the movement in Brink was to be revolutionary, yet I find myself getting stuck on teammates all the time, as well the actual movement speed seems quite slow...

Thats funny. I'm not mad, and therefore I'm unable to rage. Just re-reading my post, and I don't see anything that is particularly angry about it. The only thing that is laughable are your claims about the "high level" of reviewers reporting the same issues. The only one that seems to have a general consensus is the dumb A.I., which admittedly is disappointing. Fast ranking and level cap are preferences. But this game has its roots in legacy, arena based, FPS games. So it makes sense that the level and rank system is more or less a tutorial to get players accustomed to the games mechanics. Instead of throwing the games rules at players, everbody can spend a good five to seven hours learning about the class functions and general gameplay. Since people unlock everything at the same rate, everybody will be on a level playing field. Winning will be based on skill, not outmatching someone's rank, or perk.

You have some valid concerns about lag. I haven't got a chance to play this online, but it seems peoples reports are varied at best. This is disappointing, but typical of an online game at launch. Hopefully, the lag will be ironed out.

The lead map designer in this game is the man who made de_dust for Counterstrike, so it is not surprising that many of the maps have choke points. So far, positive reviews praise the map design, while negative reviews bash it. From my understanding, the game was made for 8v8 play, and the maps individual choke points were designed for 4v4 action. There is actually quite a bit of strategy in taking a choke point with so few players. It is less about overpowering with kills, and more about each player using their class effectively to advanced past the enemy. These types of maps are actually designed to favor one side over the other for a reason: One team attacks, and one team defends. The defenders usually have the upper hand, but typically players are put onto opposing sides after the match. Everybody gets a chance to be defenders, and enjoy the challenge of attacking. There are games (like Battlefield BC's rush mode) where things are switched up, and defending can actually be more challenging than attacking. In the end it doesn't matter, because every player gets an opportunity to play both sides. The point is, unbalanced maps can be fun, and I trust David Johnston did a good job making Brink's maps.

I never said I mind choke points. It's just that many people say there are to few of them. I do not want to fight only through choke point instances and playing somekind of tug-of-war game with the defending team having an advantage.

And since you know they wanted the ranking system to be like this then why didn't they announced it?

So after playing the game for a little bit, I can tell you that most Choke points can be flanked with SMART, so it ends up being fairly balanced. The maps in this game are amazing. Due to the SMART system, the choke points are actually three dimensional. If the enemies are clogging up a specific spot, just go over or under them! Your not going to get stuck on a bottleneck, the reviews are full of ship.

I don't know how to properly respond to your second point. What do you think? Was the ranking system an accident?

Edit: I forgot to mention my complete and total dissatisfaction with friendly AI. They really svck, and they are worse than the defense. The friendly AI need to be patched to work as aggressively for their team as the defensive AI. Defensive AI are not actually that bad, slightly predictable, but they always buff each other.

I think this basically amounts to Splash Damage's promise falling through of a single and multiplayer experience that blends together seamlessness. Honestly, I cannot wait to take it online.

Let's all remember something. When you love something, you love it. I had a good good friend who was dating this cool chic. Hot body, good taste in music, good style, good job, etc. One day my boy comes over and is like, "Man we need to smoke!" I asked what was wrong and he told me his chic said she had genital herpes. Now this is the part where you expect him to say he is going to break up with her right? WRONG. He stayed with her because he loved her. Love takes the bad and pushes it to the side to enjoy the good.

With that being said, I LOVE BRINK. So with that being said, if BRINK has genital warts, I will still glad go to bed with it. . .EVERY NIGHT. Cheers!
