Version of OBMM to use?

Post » Sat Feb 05, 2011 8:30 pm

Hey there getting back into Oblivion for the hundredth time. Had to shut down my mmo of choice due to lack of time to play so I thought I'd pick this back up instead. Anyways was wondering what version of OBMM is good to use, asking as I saw an OBMM Extended and wasn't sure about it. Also I plan to use just basic mods like the unofficial fixes, one to make dungeons darker (can't recall the name), drop lit torches, and a quest reward leveler. Any advice on which mods are the "best" for these fixes? Been gone awhile and I'm sure some of the "best" mods for these fixes have changed. Thanks.

OBMM:
The "Extended" one woild be fine. It is based on the latest (Final?) version, which has not itself been updated for quite some time. So get either of those, http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2097 or the http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=32277.
A better option (either instead of or alongside, depending on the mods you install) would be Wrye Bash.

Unofficial patches:
Just be sure to get the http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=27710 of the Unofficial Oblivion Patch along with the base one (linked to from this link here.)

Darker Dungeons:
A couple off good options.
Until recently I would say that http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22819 or http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=29692 was the best bet (same basic mod, the latter just adds more options for other mod compatibilities.)
But just recently a new one has been released that might be worth checking out; http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35099

drop lit torches:
Another one with a new one to try out!
The best default is easily http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=16282
The new alternative is http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34644 (this one is 'cleaner' in many ways, but does lack one or two neat features, such as the automatic dropping of a torch when unsheathing a weapon.)

quest reward leveler:
Again two good options.
1. http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13536 <--- what you asked for; quest rewards level up as you do.
2. http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=26638 <--- different; this one gives you the "best" reward every time. More realistic as your award doesn't 'magically' change over time.

Out of interest (or not  ) I am currently using the second of each option, but was also happy with the first ones as well.

My pleasure.
And yeah Cava Obscura does look promising indeed. Don't forget to check out http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1120083-relz-cava-obscura/page__st__40 as well, to see (and comment etc.) how it is being worked on.
