[RELz] Willful Resistance v4.0

Post » Mon Feb 14, 2011 6:05 am

I've been getting the same thing as Zax, except I'm fairly sure I started this character with Willful Resistance active, although I may be wrong. I've tried deactivating and reactivating it, and still have no magic resistance due to my willpower. I'm using OBSE v.017b (still version 4, reluctant to use betas), and I've got all the files in the right place (esp in data, ini in the tejon folder within data). My willpower is 60, so with default settings I think I should be getting some magic resistance. Any help would be appreciated.

Zax has verified that 4.1 is a fix for him. OBSE v0018 should be out of beta within the week, if you want to avoid the beta tag.

I just started getting errors in the console from Willful Resistance. Here's a screenshot of the errors: http://i32.tinypic.com/rsynfo.jpg

It's too late for me to mess with finding a console logger or whatever for me to give a better report. Seems to have suddenly starting happening whenever I zone, though.

Anything I should try to fix it? And I should probably run the cleanup script before disabling the mod, eh?

It's an obse bug and happens randomly. They're working on fixing that for the next release whether it be public release or another quick beta.

Ah, okay, looks like I was a version behind on OBSE (18b3 rather than b4), I never checked that. I'll try updating that and loading an earlier save.

tejon, your mods rock. I'm using several of them at once right now and they are great. I can't get enough of the new birthsigns and races!

But for this particular mod, I gotta say, the 1% weakness per point seems excessive. Here's what I posted on the Nexus site:

I love the idea of this mod but I don't like its default implementation. For every point of Willpower over 50, you get .24% magic resistance for a total of 12% at 100 Willpower. That is fine (although I tweaked it to .20% for a total of 10% at 100 Willpower...just looks better).

However, the default weakness to magic is a full 1% for every 1 point less than 50 Willpower! To me, this is ridiculously unbalanced. Only male and female Bretons, and male Orcs, start with a Willpower of 50 (assuming vanilla Oblivion races/genders), which means every other character you create will start the game with a 10% or 20% weakness to magic! That will take quite a while to overcome and seems way too high to start with.

But you can easily change this setting as well, so I also set it to .20%, which means a total of 10% weakness at 0 Willpower. Now any race starting at 30 or 40 Willpower will have a modest weakness to magic, which makes sense.

I would conditionally recommend the mod if you tweak the settings to not be so drastic, unless you really want a big weakness like that from the start.

But seriously, I love the way all your mods work together and really make a whole new experience for the game! Thanks a lot!

Hm, I must have missed this mod when it was released. It looks very intriguing. Thanks for the link, ITPaladin.

I'm having fun merging these little mods and creating fun merged names for them. :)

Just note the important message on the readme.
