CTD after savegame load

I've been having some unexplained CTD problems recently that I've tried to solve on my own but have proven unsuccessful thus far. It happened basically randomly, I had no problems after one load of my savegame, took my character around and switched cells, didnt really do much but the next time I load the CTD occurs. I didn't install any extra mods or anything between the two saves, but now neither one works and new games crash as well.

Its unlike CTDs on load I've had before because my savegame loads completely, but after about 5-7 seconds I get a *ding* and CTD. I was originally thinking perhaps it had something to do with some initialization of one of my mods (like Oblivion XP's startup crashed or pluggy, better music, etc.) but I'm still unsure and don't really know how I could solve that anyways.

Might have something to do with the change of cells, but still my other save in an isolated cell from before no longer works either so I'm puzzled.

If anyone has any advice or help, reply if you would. Thanks!

Most probably that ding is from Windom Earle's Crash Prevention System (an OBSE plugin you may have installed).

My experience with WeOCPS is that it usually delays a crash, but never really cures the cause, so basically anytime I hear that ding and a crash is prevented, I still quit without saving, and go back to my previous save.

There may be many reasons for a crash (it could be corrupt spawns) - you can check by seeing if it crashes in the same spot, then trying to wait 3 days (or wahtever your respawn time is set at), and re-entering that cell.

Frankly, my suggestion is to go to a previous save (maybe 2 or 3 previous ones to be safe) where it was not crashing, and continue from there. It would be better from a stability point of view later in the game. Even if you manage to get your latest savegame not crash, it has been known to be unstable, and that will continue to linger in later savegames.

The ding might be from WeOCPS because I think I had downloaded it before. I don't really have enough time upon load to check if its because of corrupt spawns by changing cells or waiting because I only have around 5 seconds before it crashes to desktop. I try to check the console immediately to see if a faulty script from somewhere is causing the crash but it will crash anyways as its something in my initialization on startup of a load that is crashing me.

Unfortunately, going to any of my previous saves doesn't work as they all suffer from the same crash after a few seconds and even trying to start a new game crashes the game instantly. I tried checking if maybe Oblivion XP scripts were crashing( I sort of suspected it because on startup of a load around the same time as the crash happens is when Oblivion XP's exp bar turns from blue to yellow, signifying that its loaded my past experience points. It doesn't get a chance to do this because the crash happens.) but even trying to deactivate the omod and load it still crashes.

As soon as the game loads, open the console and write:
TAI
TSCR

This turns off AI processing and scripts and may prevent a crash.

Also, as soon as the game loads try:
COC Weye
in case something in the cell is causing the crash.

Also check the WeOCPS log. The error messages may give a clue as to the cause of the crash.

I figured out where the crashes came from. I had put plenty of extra music in my better music system folders a few saves before. The cell I had been in when making those had its own music which made me think nothing was wrong with the music files I placed. When I left the cell and went into the worldspace everything was fine and it even worked when going through several other cells, playing the music I had placed in the folders. I saved outside in a cell from the Dark Tower mod in the town of Coldstone, which for the most part I think has its own music. Then when reloading I guess something went wrong. I just randomly tried disabling the Better Music System esm just know and everything worked fine, no real problems as far as I can tell and no CTD upon fast travel or anything.

I'm wondering something else now though. Is it at all possible to put other music in Better Music System's folders and make it still work? I own NWN 1 and 2, Dragon Age, and Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 along with other mp3 and had used some of those files in the Taverns folder and Guild folders, for example to get all those great tavern tracks and others from those games. Is there anyway to tell which files I need to remove, or does only vanilla music work theyre. Really hoping I can get it to work without the crashes as I really liked having that music in Oblivion :(

Aside from Petrus's excellent suggestions, I also suggest trying to BOSS your LO, and read the log to see if any mods conflict are indicated in the log...

A few observations on your LO;

1) You are using Oblivifall- Losing My religion, and Cliffworms has indicated that it is not compatible with KOTN yet...
2) Are you using both Race Balancing Project and "Cobl Races"? RBP already includes the races included in COBL-Races...
3) I don't think TIE4MODS has been updated lately and if it is compatible with the latest FCOM...
4) I'm not familiar with "2D Improved Hotkeys_Extended.esp [Version 1.1]", but I heartily recommend the recent "Enhanced Hotkeys" by TheNiceOne.
5) Have you updated your Warcry to the latest v 1.09 BSA, and FCOM_Warcry accordingly? If not, check the FCOM thread in these forums.
6) Aren't these 2 sets of the files multiple versions of the same thing? Check the BOSS log notes, or ask in the BC thread:

You can add any music to the vanilla music folders (Battle, Public, Explore and Dungeons) without any problems even if you remove BMS. Any mp3 that plays on your machine correctly (try outside of game using Windows Media Player) should ideally be running fine in-game as well. If it throws an error outside of game (Windows can't play this file etc.), then the game is going to freeze when that track tries to play...

Adding music to BMS should work as it wa meant to have more files in it. BMS doesn't come with music files, you are supposed to add additional music to them anyway. So I don't see why that should be a question/problem...

I still would like the use the mod if possible, because it is really cool and I had run it before without issue before I did a clean reinstall a while back.
And yeah I noticed that, the files I put in the vanilla folders still played after being disabled. I'm fairly certain all the mp3s work well, I played them all primarily in I-Tunes though so maybe I'll quickly try each in Windows Media Player but I listened to all of them before I selected some for my folders so they should be fine. I was just asking about which music files are good because I read back over Better Music's Readme it does mention in troubleshooting that user's should try to use vanilla mp3 files only because other files might be transcoded wrong.

Oh, and thanks for the load order suggestions, always helpful!
