Hi guys, I am reinstalling Oblivion GOTY again after uninstalling it a year ago or so. And I have some questions about addons. I want to keep it as vanilla as possible. what addons do you guys suggest? The reason I uninstalled it the first time I think is because I had it so full of addons that I just had a difficult time getting into the game like I did Morrowind and I don't want that to happen again. All I really want are the bug fixes addons and for the game to look really nice with out crashing. I have decent hardware so I know I can handle what ever is thrown at it.

Also does anyone know of an addon that makes the UI as close as possible to Morrowind? Anyway any suggestions would be helpful and thanks.

Well, for bug fixes, get the unofficial patches. For graphics...do what ITPaladin said.

Anything I am missing? It may not be up to your standards but I payed for all the parts myself and built it myself and never had any problems with any games or programs I have ran on it even when running them at the same time. And for all that I am pretty damn proud of it!

Welcome back to Oblivion. You are right in not jumping right in and adding a lot of game play changing mods.
You really won't know what you need until you know what you got. And when what you got starts annoying you, then is the time to find a mod that fixes it.

The possible permutations of the game through mod additions is...well...really really BIG. Which is why modded Oblivion allows each individual to tailor the game to their fit.

Of course, the longer you play, the more convinced you become that the perfect fit is out there among those thousands of mods, if you can just come up with the right combination.

And say now...look at this beauty that just got released today. But seriously, have fun. That's what it's really about. :laugh:

Don't count on it. Toss in enough stuff and even the best systems can be crying out for mercy. Test things out first, don't just make presumptions about what your rig can handle.

There are literally hundreds of great mods that will revive your game and make it feel like a whole new adventure.

The first thing that comes into my mind is Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul, this is a must.
-Natural Hunger/sleep.
-Mighty Magic (if you are into magic)
-no Psychic Guards
-Sm Combat Hide.
-Main Quest delayer.
-toaster says share
-deadly reflex
-adrenaline oblivion
If you want quests there are uncountable good quest mods; I would recommend. Tears of the FIend, Verona House, Gates of Aesgard, Lost spires, armor of malevolence. These are top notch exquisite quests. You are bound to have hours upon hours of entertainment.

If you want a house mod; Glenvar Castle is the best I have ever played.Period. It also comes with a fine quest to obtain it.

If you are into vampirism, Terran Vampires, even though it is in beta stage(apperently forever), is one of the best. Unholy darkness was supposed to be even better, it was supposed to be the greatest vampire mod ever created, but it ended up being a complete disappointment. LTD's Vampire Overhaul is terrific.
StarX is a classic, and my current favorite Blood is Everything provides a really witty and elegant approach to vampirism, in a manner I have never seen before.

For graphics start with the smaller load mods. Don't jump right into using QTP3 just because you are using a 1GB video card.
Use the tdt>sdt 13 console commands to see how much vram you are using up.
I had to scale mine back since I just have 512. I used the QTP3 further reduced omod version that gives a choice of about 3 reduced versions, and only using it for some landscape stuff.
I still have to work on what I will use for the rest.
