Having spiders in the game, there is a lot of potential for freaking out the arachnophobe.

imagine long twisting tunnels covered in dense web, obscuring your vision.. so you take out your sword and chop it down, all the while you see dozens of tiny spiders crawling up and along the walls. In 3rd person you see them crawling harmlessly across your shoulders.

you carry on and all of a sudden the ground beneath you breaks and you fall down into a giant web filled chasm, you are trapped and have to cut your way out, but a giant spider comes creeping towards you, its paralysing fangs at the ready.

Yeah I really hope they get spiders right in the game. :D 1000 small spiders a more freakier than one big one.

If the spiders are as scary as this, I will worship Bethesda.

I don't consider myself that much of an arachnophobe... but that picture just about made me crap myself

This pretty much sums up my Skyrim-spider philosophy

I love spideys, there adorable. I would love a spider cave, so I can harvest their venom when ever I need it.

We need scorpions.

Wow... a picture is fine. Killing in game is fine. But if I saw that in RL, I wouldn't hang around to take a pic.

Also you might want a bigger warning! :)

I wouldn't mind an Indiana Jones style bug room, crawling with normal sized bugs and spiders.

Those baby spiders in the picture are great; in Oblivion the Spider Daedra created one 1/4 size version of herself but I would prefer if the Skyrim spiders were accompanied by 100 x 1/100 size spiderlings.

I shall avoid any and every spider cave in the game. Hell, I had to download a mod that turns all the spiders into rabbits, in Nehrim, because I just couldnt handle it. *shudders*

The one in the video wasn't scary. it could have just as well been a giant crab-type of creature.
The one in the picture though, yes!!! Creepy hairy spiders that will make my skin crawl. that's what I want.
Various densities of webbing also. Dark areas, not knowing if there is spider tucked up in the ceiling or not, except by the clue of webs.

Perhaps there will be cool spider mods also.

I'm hoping for some medium sized ones. I always found those way freakier than really big ones. When spiders get too big in fantasy, they just become another monster, they still need to be able to crawl all over the walls and stuff to be scary :)

I'm not exactly what you'd call arachnophobic, but I wouldn't ever support intentionally creating something that will force a lot of people to stop playing a game that may well be one of their favourite series.

Still, if they must be in, then I'll fight them, and I'll do it the way I always do: not much more than two feet away, sword at the ready, so I know I'm not afraid of them.

I was reading this thread and a huge ass mosquitoe flew into my computer screen. Not gonna lie... made me jump a little. It would be neat if spider dungeons turned out to be a mixture of Shelob's Lair from LotR and the Klendathu Bug tunnels from Starship Troopers. I'm so looking forward to getting caught in one of their giant webs of doom and having to cut myself free with a sword like Frodo.

Giant spiders are just one of the three monsters that this sort of game always should have, along with zombies and giant rats. I'm really glad they're in the game.

Anyone who likes chopping up giant spiders with a sword or blasting them with fireballs should play Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. A terrific and underrated game that uses spiders heavily. This one bit where you're climbing out of this giant underground labyrinth, jumping from rope to rope while spiders crawl along the walls was tense as all hell.

I hope they have a little bit of brains to try and flee when wounded. With those damn long legs they should be pretty fast, maybe they can forfait and climb back on the ceiling and think they escaped... until we start shooting fire arrows.

Yeah, I don't mind having giant spiders in game, it'll be fun to kill them. I'm still glad the game comes out in the winter though, since there are few spiders at that time of the year (in my country anyway :P). Maybe I'll have a problem playing Skyrim during summer.

Whether it's small spiders or a big one I would still burn the (&@|* of the cave, casting fireballs in every corner and corridor, foot by foot scorching my way through. :flamethrower: Most satisfying thing an arachnophobe can imagine :chaos: .
