Help with FCOM install

Hello,

I think i messed up the MMM portion of the install.

Ive installed all the components on the FCOM list and ran wyre bash and then Boss. The Boss log has a lot of errors and most of them are related to MMM.
After trying to figure out what the cause was I think I installed it wrong.

I exported the MMM.bas and then copied the files into the data folder, rather then copying the MMM.bsa file itself into the data folder and renaming it.

So my first question is how do I undo this if that is in fact the problem.

and two after renaming the MMM.bsa file how do I know which of the other 3 files to rename.
I can post the BOSS log if that helps anyone.

I recommend installing with either OBMM or BAIN. If you are doing manual, you will be running into problems very soon.

Thanks for the quick replys. I think you misunderstand my post. I have already completely installed FCOM. My problem is that I'm pretty sure I installed MMM improperly and Its resulting in a lot of errors in my BOSS log. how do I undo what I did as stated in my original post so I can install it properly?

The reason this is happening is because FCOM replaces some of the things in MMM so the MMM ones are not necessary/will mess your game up. The esp's your boss log are telling you are messing up need to be deleted. I assume it says something along the lines of !!!FCOM install error!!!, right?

Based on your first post it's quite hard to decipher what might have gone wrong with the install, but I guess you have MMM esps that shouldn't be used with FCOM, as samuro_ said. What do you mean with "how do I know which of the other 3 files to rename"? You should only rename the bsa.

Anyway, check the Quick Install Guide for MMM 3.7b3 in http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1116296-relz-martsmonstermod37b3-public-release-3-relz/. Also, post your load order via Wrye Bash: right-click File-header > List mods > Paste into post.

Ok thanks that makes sense.

I think the reason Im confused and you misunderstand is because I dont have just one file anymore(the MMM.bsa) I opened the MMM.bsa file and exported its contents to my desktop then copied them into the data folder.

So should I just go through and delete all the files the BOSS log says to delete?

Also the reason I mentioned 3 other files is I was confused by this...
2] Select 'Mart's Monster Mod.esm' (If using OOO also select MMMforOOO.esm)
3] Select ONE of the following:
'Mart's Monster Mod.esp' - And Rename MMM.bsa to Mart's Monster Mod.bsa
*OR*
'Mart's Monster Mod for Frans.esp' - And Rename bsa to Mart's Monster Mod for Frans.bsa
*OR*
'Mart's Monster Mod for OOO.esp' - And Rename bsa to Mart's Monster Mod for OOO.bsa

And thanks for all the help I really appreciate it. Im new to all this but i have spent the last 2 days reading all the instruction threads and guides. I'm sure Ive mad mistakes but its not for a lack of understanding but more just never using these programs before. so thanks.

And thanks for all the help I really appreciate it. Im new to all this but i have spent the last 2 days reading all the instruction threads and guides. I'm sure Ive mad mistakes but its not for a lack of understanding but more just never using these programs before. so thanks.


For FCOM_Convergence - Rename bsa to FCOM_Convergence_Mart's Monster Mod.bsa


So it's only the bsa that should be renamed. With FCOM you use FCOM_Convergence.esp rather than any of the MMM for X esp's. Sounds like a bad idea to extract the bsa - most users rather appreciate the bsa as it makes install/uninstalls easier. If having done so, you obviously don't need the bsa and thus not to rename it either. Don't have time to check the load order right now, but I'm sure others will give advice on that.

I'd recommend starting from scratch and use the BSA instead of extracting its contents. As for the esp's, simply delete the ones BOSS complains about.

You don't need to delete them, just make sure they are not loaded when you start your game (by unchecking them).

True, but I'd still recommend an uninstall/reinstall, especially if the BSA was extracted manually. Also, no reason to keep unusable esp's so might as well remove them.

Ok I reinstalled everything as instructed and have no errors in BOSS log. However now that its all done when I try to run Oblivion it opens a black screen then closes it and nothing happens.

Did I mess something else up? Im not sure what to look for.

It makes SI much harder generally and makes SI feel congruent with FCOM Cyrodiil. Also, works fine with MMM SI. Not sure about how it works with Fran's SI when I think about it. Anyway, much recommended.

Thanks guys thats a big help.

I must have forgotten to install the OOO 1.34 Beta 5 files this time, so I will do that.

Should I install OMOBS instead of MOBS(meaning should I just delete the MOBS files and Replace with OMOBS)?

I installed Warcry Im not sure why it isnt showing up... I'll reinstall it and update it again.

I also installed MMM but I think I know why it isnt seeing it so Ill fix that too. Because of the Order issues with MMM if I reinstall it will that mess up things I'm suppose to install after that step? Or can I just reinstall those files?

I followed your fixes and I think I got it all installed right. I'm still not sure what I'm doing with the bashed patch but I kinda mulled through it and managed to run Oblivion for an hour with no problems. Im not really clear on the whole activated and not thing what to check and what not to. I ran BOSS and let it do its thing.

I'll post my new list if anyone can check it for me that would be great.

Also I had a few questions of things I'm unclear about.

I didnt use OMOD for anything when do I need to use this?
Do I need to have wrye bash running while Im playing Oblivion?
How would I go about installing other recommend mods?
Should it be done with OMOD or do i add them into wrye bash and rebuild a new bashed patch?

Thanks for any help. Ive been reading all kinds of posts and guides and Im just a little unclear.

Thanks for any help. Ive been reading all kinds of posts and guides and Im just a little unclear.

1) What do you mean by "Not using OMOD"? Did you use Wrye Bash's BAIN feature for installing FCOM, or did you use OBMM? OBMM makes its own compressed files called OMODs, that you double-clik on to install/uninstall.
2) No, wrye bash should not be running while playing oblivion.
3) and 4) So what did you use to install FCOM? Use the same utility (Wrye Bash or OBMM) to install other mods...
4) whatever you do, it is recommended that you BOSS your LO and build the bashed patch through Wrye bash after adding any new mod (it will take time). Make sure you are updating the BOSS masterlist also before BOSSIng your load order. Remmember that it is possible that you use OBMM to add/install mods and Wrye Bassh just to build bashed patch (many users here do that). I recommend using Wrye Bash to do everything....
