The main problem with doing this is that most quests are designed with it in mind - so without it, you'll have a lot of trouble finding things, as you're given no directions, and often no clue where it is, or what you're really looking for.

Thanks for the Link :goodjob:

@ PhYoshi

Yes, I know that the descriptions given from NPC's are not that good in many cases...but it's pretty pointless to play for me with questmarker. After installing a couple mods that increase the game difficulty and change the leveling I enjoy playing Oblivion, but the questmarker still kill the roleplay experiance.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=26389 does want you want as well as many additional things such as reducing the distance that markers appear on your HUD, custom map markers or disabling fast travel. It's features are optional/configurable by ini or by omod script.

I would have to second PhYoshi's warning that some quests may become very difficult if not impossible but some people like that :)

Look at my post above...I play the Elder Scrolls since Arena in 1995 and there is no need to explore the wilderness or talk to many people if a damned arrow tell you where you have to go. I guess the majority of the Elder Scrolls Veterans dislike the questmarker

Oh, I agree with you, I hate the thing. My current method is to keep the marker on the map (Because really, somebody marking where they want me to go on a map isn't that far fetched), but removing my PLAYER marker, so I have to navigate via landmarks, not following any sort of arrow. Map Marker Overhaul has been invaluable here, especially as it can delay the "finding" of places until you're, for example, near somewhere you do know the location of, or ask a guard to place it for you. Avoids the BS of not having a clue where your quest target is, while not killing the experience.

Cool, thanks. I'll try that method...it sounds good to me :celebration:

You don't really need a mod for this. Just set the Nirnroot quest as your current quest.

If you use DarNifiedUI or DarkUI'd DarN then http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22163 has some useful map features. A bit beyond what you're asking for I know but especially useful if playing without quest markers.

For my immersive map, I use Darnified UI to turn off the quest marker in the HUD.

I then use Map Marker Overhaul (of course) to turn off quest markers from the local map, but keep them enabled on the world map. And I also use Map Marker Overhaul to disable the player-you-are-here marker, and to prevent the map from auto-opening centered on the player. And I use MMO to shorten the distance map markers get visible in the HUD and on the map.

Combined, those settings make the map work much more like a real paper map would work. It doesn't auto-centre on the player, so you cannot see from the map exactly where you are. But having the quest marker visible on the world map is quite similar to marking the position you're going to on a paper map, so that one is quite realistic. Especially since the local map is still without quest marker, so you're completely on your own inside a cave or similar, since the world map quest marker only points to the entrance.

Btw, as soon as OBSE 19 goes official, Map Marker Overhaul will let you disable the quest marker from the HUD as well, through a new ini setting. The function is implemeted, but requires some new OBSEv19 functions.

Thanks to PhYoshi. you and the others for your help.

If followed PhYoshi's and your advice and I'm really satisfied with the result....the game is much more interesting now :foodndrink:
