Polishing- Message for Officials

Post » Fri Mar 25, 2011 8:13 pm

Dear any member of Splash Damage or Bethesda that reads this post.

First of, I have not yet received my copy of Brink, as I live in Australia, but I believe I can speak for a large majority of Brink fanatics and gamers.
Brink was firstly mentioned around two years ago, slowly more and more hype was built, and the game started being produced. Loyal fans have followed
this game ever since the beginning, and awaited every single new idea you guys put out. The game was sadly delayed several times due to "polishing" and "improving,"
Which the community took a deep breathe and respected that. Luckily, you still managed to keep your fans hyped up for the entire time. Brink has been released recently, and there has been a major stir.
May I ask personally, what ever happened to all this time spent polishing and perfecting the game? I have heard of several glitches, errors and more which has frustrated a large majority of gamers
playing this game. This is unacceptable. You cannot delay a game for months and claim that "polishing is a long process." It obviously didn't pay off. Now players are canceling their pre-orders, or returning their recently purchased Brink copy
due to a glitchy, obviously unfinished/un patched game. Now take my advice, before you lose anymore players and customers, I suggest you listen to the community and get your act together. I realise patches are being
released but you cannot stop there. Gamers want to see lobbies, harder difficulty options for bots and campaign, and more core maps. Both big and little things need to be fixed guys, and before you lose your entire following, it had better
happen quicksmart. Hopefully I am receiving my copy tomorrow, and I pray to god that the major downfalls have been removed.
Don't let bad reviews continue to release.
Thank you for your time,

Jacob.

Haha yea. I wouldnt base your opinion off of the people that complain on the forums. BRINK is amazing, the AI leaves something to be desired for sure but the online play is airtight. I have only tried playing with one or two friends at a time and have not found a problem getting into matches with them. The first few hours that I played on May10th were laggy but since then I havent had a problem with it.

I'll just have to wait and see for myself. But I still do think it's fairly slack to release a game that has several problems with it.

People will complain about anything... If a dustbin thats lying somewhere on a map doesn't look EXACTLY right, then people will complain about it and flame the game from here to the moon, round saturn and back again.

You have a point. May I ask your personal opinion of the game?

I haven't played it yet so I reserve my personal opinion about the game until I have played it. I reckon, though, that I will enjoy it, but it remains to be seen, I might be expecting too much of it (I am often very guarded against expecting anything out of games and movies, because I personally overhype games for myself, and then get disappointed).

It's so frustrating. You have half saying it's great, and half wanting a bloody refund.

Some games, like some movies, are love/hate things... Either your going to love the game to bits, or hate it beyond belief. That is why I won't be going with the user reviews/critic reviews on this one, because it is a mixed bag. Most often, the critics that have been downgrading this game have hated the SP, and I can live with that, I remove their negatives about the SP campaign, and look at whats left of their negatives... Usually not so many, meaning I will enjoy the game.

I will explain it to you. I am enjoying the game because i am open minded. The people who hate the game are the people who ASSUMED the game was gonna be a specific way (probably COD-ish) and because the game is not what they expected then they are pissed. But really the game is super amazing. customizations, objectives, skills, smart, BUFFS...the game is awesome, period!

Some really stupid people out there. This is the complete opposite to COD. Have you ever played Star Wars Battlefront 2? If you have, I hope it's similar in the objective matter.
I really hope this is the view I'll experience.
May I ask what platform you're playing on?

I think the best advice anyone could give you about this game is that it is mediocre. It is an average game
that doesn't do any one thing in particular really well (customization may be the only exception here).
It isn't a great game and it isn't a bad game. It deserves the scores it's getting.

The SMART system isn't implemented as well as it could and should have been. The gun play is average.
The guns don't have that meaty feeling to them which makes it seem like you are shooting toys rather than
real guns at times. Not many developers can pull this off, though. And the objectives and maps don't have
the design and layout that will really keep a good number of people playing for months and years to come.

It is simply average.

Maybe in a general sense that is correct, but also completely wrong. A lot of people think this is a great game, a lot of people think it is a [censored] game. It doesn't get much more subjective than this.

Well, I can say I played the game, and I'm disappointed. I love the gameplay, I really enjoyed playing last night. My gripe is that it looks like a ps2/original xbox game. It looks nothing like what I saw in the trailers. Textures do not load well, Edges are jagged and not smooth. My friend says he saw this on his friend's tv when they first bought the game, but when he took it home to his tv it looked nothing like that, said it looked much better. Seen other people with the same complaints and the patch did not remedy much for me. The only thing that helped was installing it to my xbox hdd to speed up the texture loading. But if I do a 90 degree turn and then turn back around, textures are loading again. Very poor considering the moved the release date forward
