Contemporary with a river or son of a usuper?

Post » Sun Mar 27, 2011 6:08 pm

So a simple question really.

Is Mankar Camoran the Son of Haymon Cameron, born during the Usurper's reign, or contemporary with Tiber Septim?

Tar-meena, during the Oblivion MQ, states that Mankar Camoran and his commentaries on the Mysterium Xarxes are contemporary with ol' tiber, while the Refugees claim Mankar Camoran was born in the waning years of Haymon's reign. So who's right? The Refugees or Tar-meena?

Either Tar-Meena is a rubbish historian,or she implies the -commentaries- are contemopary with ol' Tiber, and he wasn't.This either means that, before Haymon Camoran died,he wrote a book under the name Mankar and decided to name his child this,or he has powers over time.

Tar-Meena being a rubbish historian sounds the most likely.

Both Tiber and Cameron are early Third Era, albiet a couple hundred years apart. Tar-Meena probably just forgot her dates.

There arnt very many hundreds of years in the Third Era to forget about... But yeahyeah. I guess Tar-Meena just took some rumours she had heard while researching (That is, talking to random people and scholars. Some are propably a bit misinformed) and put that as a theory that she told you.

And anyways, I cant remember the exact wording of what she said... But didnt she say that he was a very powerful person because he had lived since Tiber Septim or atleast for a very long time? But Altmers are commonly known for living for hundreds of years! Bah... Misinformed scholars!

The Aurine would be the Shezzarine or the Nerevarine, only for Auri-El. The problem is that the A-Dragon isn't quite dead enough to have an -ine.

Or someone else (possibly Haymon) wrote the Commentaries, and Mankar just slapped his name on them and claimed he wrote them all that way back, or he wrote them later in the Third Era and managed to make all the records show them being written earlier. Add in the family's secrecy during the Third Era and he probably could fool enough people, and confuse honest scholars as well...

(Whenever Tar-Meena talks about who wrote what and when, tellingly, she tends to use words like "supposedly" and the like - Mankar "supposedly" leading the Mythic Dawn, for instance. I don't think she actually has reliable sources, and she knows that.)
