Museam of artifacts

i remember there was a mission in tribunal where you could find artifacts and submit them to the museam. would be cool if we have a similar mission, but with a more drawn out story to it :)

My house will be a museum of artifacts by the time i'm done with this game.

Seriously, we're talking bows, swords, shields, helms, BIG shiny crystal thingys that glow, lots of books, daggers...
all that good stuff.

I really hope there's cool stuff to collect that doesn't actually have to be useful AKA bobbleheads in F3.

What if it can be your own museum? I mean honestly if I was the adventurer I wouldn't sell of these artifacts to a museum I would display them myself. I think they should fix the current methods of displaying items. First of all there was some mod (probably several, im not sure) that added mannequins and I really think that should be in vanilla Skyrim. Personally I just want an awesome way to display my stuff, and if an improved museum is how they do it, I'll be happy.

I downloaded a mod that added a new guild that allowed you to travel to new dungeons and find artifacts to submit to a museum. It was pretty well done, and could definitely fit the game.

I didn't really want to sell my Magic gear to the museum though, I would feel compelled to collect them all but couldn't part with my Cuirass of Saviour's Hide or Chrysamere.

Maybe with some non-essential items or books.

I think it would be (and was in Tribunal) a nice way to actually get somewhere near (well not near, but more than 1200 gold...) the value of an artifact, seeing as there are always some artifacts that you can't really use, either because you don't use armor, other type, not skilled with the weapon type etc. So I think it would be nice.

You could always just steal them back. It's a good way to make a lot of gold.

I even stole that really heavy hammer. the one that starts out in the museum

Stendarr's Hammer? The one that weighs twice your encumberance limit?

I think this would be a good idea. For those who like to make some cash they could sell it to a curator. However should you like to keep them yourself then I would like to see improved options for your house. In Oblivion you had set areas, with no option of what got put in. I think in Skyrim you should be able to choose what goes where, so I could have all my "living space" downstairs and then have the upstairs full of display cases, cabinets, with things hanging on the walls, and mannequins with armours on them.

I think Bethesda need to really look at this side of things to make it easier. Almost all of my friends collect something ingame. It would be nice if you would access the display cases and bookshelves like any other chest or container, and it then automatically locks it into a display position so they don't get knocked around. This would be especially useful for books if you could choose in what order to display them too.

Not a public museum. Skyrim just doesn't strike me as the place where people would store valuable items in public view. Private collectors would be nice with, say someone in the fighters guild or the thieves guild having a side business into artifact acquisition.

I recall there being such a museum in Shivering Isles, too. In Bliss, I think.

@Didact: Think of it like this: these people are proud of their ancestry, so they will likely have a museum of some form, even if the items aren't going to be on display with plaques nearby like in a conventional museum.
