Friends in High Places

If you have built some kind friendship with a noble or politician do you think they should get some kind of exclusivity at certain stores and possibly invited to private parties?
Little things like that making you feel like a part of a different society.

Yes, I like invitations to posh houses... because they have such wonderful things to steal.

as well as get cut some slack for minor law infractions like assualt, unless it was on another noble. would be awesome for role play as a noble.

It is about who you know, rather than what you know I suppose. Having friends in high places that help you out would be a neat addition. However, being friends with beggars and lowlifes should give you alternate advantages.

like some shady merchant 'taking cuts' from the empires stock could 'lose' some supplies.

definetly yes to this one. Plus I believe they already said that you get treated differently depending on how much they like you, so perhaps we'll see some of this in the game already.

One of my favourite moments in Oblivion: previously, I had been wandering around talking to people to get my speechcraft skill up. Well once, I was thieving in Cheydinhal, someone walked in on me, so I had to run for it. Anyway, i don't get too far before I run into a guard, but what does the guard do? does he haul me to jail, attack me, or force me to pay the fine and give up my stolen goods? no, he says something along the lines of "hello there, you seem to have gotten yourself into a bit of trouble, but because we're friends I'll take care of it for you". No more bounty, no more problem, thanks to my friend the guard. That's the kind of thing I want to see more of in Skyrim.

I agree. I'd love to help one noble, and then find out in a later quest that this noble is dire enemies with a noble I'm questing to kill or something, and then have the original noble come help me as a gesture of his friendship (And because we have a mutual enemy)

Definitely
I feel like the player should be able to become somewhat of a noble themselves though, and then have the opposite happen. You should be able to be the gladiator of a specific noble, and once you get rich you can have your own gladiator. You could give him a bunch of armor and stuff and watch him fight the gladiator of another nobleman. Anyone thats participated in the OB DW competitions knows that watching an npc that you built actually fight is really fun.

Or we could do other things like when a noble tells us that another noble has stolen a family heirloom when we speak to the guy who has apparantly stolen it he says tht the player is being tricked or something like that.

I like your idea but from the way your putting it, it is starting to sound a bit like guild ranks.

I just reread it and it does kind of sound that way. I don't mean for it to be like guild ranks at all though. The way I am picturing it is that you could always buy a slave to make your champion. However if you are a rich and famous warrior a gladiator might approach you to become your champion. And regardless you are going to need a lot of money to train him and give him good gear.

I've just had an idea.
What if they have a noble called Lord Vega?
Tell me if you get the reference :tops:

Yes I love the imperial hierarchy. I think it would be great to see it more developed in Skyrim. I think it would be great to be able to develop friendships worth counts and dukes and get special privileges in their counties.
