Exploration

I loved oblivion and just picked it back up to get me back in the world. One thing i hope to see or feel fro Skyrim is the excitement or exploration... Getting that feeling that you might have actually discovered something that not too many people have... I love the whole urban legends thing and would like to see tha that in the game.. Have the towns have their own myths and legends but only have some of them true.. that way its left up to you to explore and find out on your own... Do you know how damn long i searched for bigfoot in Grand theft auto ha ha!!! thoughts?

you missed out on MW then, it had even more to explore. I really think people should start the TES playing MW so that they realize that graphics are not all there is to improve upon on a game.

Im already planning on playing that game soon.... Im not a graphics [censored] by any stretch but graphics do play their role when it comes to getting totally wrapped up in a game.... Many factors to a great game...

be warned, there will be a few things you will miss though if you have already played OB, things like hot keys (which make changing spells so so so much better than it was in MW) but imo that is one of the few actual improvements on the series.

Exploration kinda svcked in Oblivion since everything was same and whenever NPC would give you a quest, you had that pointer on the compass that would ruin everything. >.>
Morrowind, on the other hand, was awesome when it comes to exploration and adventure. ^^

This is about to become a Morrowind vs Oblivion thread. I can see it coming...

Lets hope this doesn't happen.
Back on topic: I think that between dragons and the better dungeons, exploring will be a lot cooler. Dragons are obviously going to add a new dimension to adventuring, and since dungeons are all being handcrafted, there is going to be a point to roaming the wilderness. Plus, just look at the images that have been released, the landscape is stunning. Exploration is going to be great in Skyrim

I cannot wait to explore Skyrim. There's no better feeling in gaming then having a whole new world at your fingertips to go wherever you want and do whatever you want. TES embodies this.

Todd confirmed that Skyrim will have more of a Morrowind feel. So I think exploration will be much better than Oblivion.

not really the case in this topic, it simply a citation in this case that MW had much better exploration capabilities than OB, its not about which game as a whole was better and more about how the upcoming game can be improved.

Lets hope this doesn't happen.

I am sceptical about the hand crafted dungeon thing. to me that implies that the difference in dungeons in OB and SK will be that their textures will look unique, that wasn't the only problem with places like caves but was only a part along side that some dungeons were either too small or were nothing more than a place with chests and enemies and did not feel... just did not feel right.

If you just set out and started exploring for the sake of it, Oblivion can have quite a bit of exploration to it. Morrowind always makes you feel like youre on a treasure hunt because its "thirty steps north, past the tree that looks like a mushroom, shake the Scribs legs, spin around twice, now its just a hop to the left..."

Edit: For anyone thinking Oblivion dungeons were bland, please take a look at Dragon Age 2. There are, I think, 3 dungeon types. Thats it, all they did was change where the door is and go "hurhurhur new dungeon". I honestly had a lot of fun and found most dungeons to be pretty varied in Oblivion even when they used the same art resources. It was better than Morrowinds everything-looks-like-mud IMO.
