Not a house or a shack, I want a tent between two trees with a mountain side on one side and a river on the other. Perfect spot for the dream hunters tent of my fantasy character :)

Good luck surviving your sleepy nights in Skyrim in only a tent.

... You serious? Finns tent in -20 degree in tents. No problem at all. And Skyrim is not all snow and ice anyways :)

If you mean the dragons, my tent would be hidden between two trees, a mountain side and a river. Almost impossible to see from any angle unless you are really close. :)

Why not hire some nearby villagers to build it for you?

By big question mark, I'm assuming the task of programming it rather than the logic behind it. You can't just spawn homes out of nothing. They must be constructed, they must look realistic when finished, and they need to look good enough to make people want to live in them. That's not something you can really do in this sort of game yet. Too much room for error, and a lot of unaccounted for details. Where do you get the furniture? Do you have to carve that yourself? How do you move it? Is your door likely to be positioned above the ground or in it if you place the house at a wrong angle? Do you have the ability to flatten the surrounding terrain to make room for a home?

Basically, this is all accomplished in a much easier way through modding. I'm going to stick with that, as I can make much better buildings in the Creation Kit (Construction Set) with full access to any resource than I think I can do with a restrictive system in the game itself. It's just easier and would yield better results.

What I'd like to happen though is a few quest-based housing developments like the strongholds in Morrowind. I'd like to see strongholds, but perhaps you could just request a small estate for yourself in the wilderness as well.

Im not talking sims level customization here. Like a few designated plots of land outside towns. Using different styles based on other homes within the game.

And those of us that play primarily on consoles will find modding our homes much more difficult. :brokencomputer:

Yes, this is exactly what I meant. I probably could have been a little clearer in my first post.

Thank you for clearing that up for me, Proditus.

I like to have some merchant or caravan nearby my house, so I would prefer cities or small settlements.

Anyway I support this idea, the more options the better.

I just mainly want the wilderness house for guys who want to play as hunters and live off the land.

I absolutely agree there needs to be more options than just city houses. If you build them, they would have to be preset but it would still be fun to see the stages and maybe customize the house to an extent. I would like if there were themes to the furniture and such kind of like FO3 but... better. Maybe there could be different themes of the different holds and maybe elven, dwemer, and that kind of thing.

But definitely, my assassin character kind of needs to not have a quaint little house in the middle of the huge city.

Certain characters I am planning will have different needs, or wants with respect to housing. Some will want a homestead in the countryside, while others my prefer to live in towns, or cities.

On Earth, many Norse built longhouses. Their size, of course was dependent upon individual wealth. On Nirn, my experience in Oblivion indicates more of a log cabin style was used by Nords.

All of them will want camping equipment, to include a tent, possibly carried as in this conception http://cdn.zenimax.com/akqacms/files/tes/concept_art/WhiterunCityTundra.jpg

Since I was planning on my Skyrim charachter being a Ranger, I would love to have a log cabin or the such in a forest adorned with bear skins from my hunting and a big warm fireplace in one end :) Somewhere warm and inviting to come back to and rest, maybe have a drink or two!
