As far as your choice goes, you'll have to give us more info to dudge what you'd like better.
As far as my choice goes, I'd go for a gandalf, since it's possible to dual-wield a magic stave and sword.

You should choose one character and not get too invested in it. Use it as a test subject to learn the game and leveling mechanics, play with the combat, etc.

Then choose whichever one fits what you've discovered about how the story and game works.

Or

Follw your heart!

Me? I'll go with the stealth and bow kind of character, who again seems to be vital in trying to save the world.

I want to play as a mage/thief hybrid Khajiit who is goodly in the Robin Hood sense, but not afraid to break the law if he feels it's the right thing to do. Whether he is more magic based or combat based will largely depend on how they are implemented. If I don't like the magic system I'll lean more towards the stealth aspect. If the combat is too gruesome for my tastes I'll focus more on the magic aspect (assuming the magic aspect isn't brutal too).

You should play however you feel like it!

Thats what I'm doing. Just a generic sword and shield character first to get the feel of the game and once I finish the main quest I'll make a new character probably an assassin.

How about this:
Playing a rogue character is going to rock in dungeons since that's where stealth shines, but svck against big enemies like dragons due to a lack of defense.
A viking will be best out in the open, using brute force and manouverability to plow through the opposition and will have a much greater chance against dragons, but a total lack of subtelty means drawbacks in some situations in dungeons (more opponents will fight you at once) and during side quests.
A mage is pretty much an all-rounder, because you can cover for any drawback with magic. However, it comes at the cost of magicka - an additional limiting factor that hamstrings a mage in prolonged combat. He owns the field, but only for the first few minutes.

So that's pretty much what you need to consider. Do you prefer finesse and skill? Or brute force and survivability? Or the ultimate power that doesn't last long?

Mine is going to be playin around with bows and swords and a little magic like my character in OB and he is going to be doing the right thing (Wich means he will break the law if it means it is the good choice)

It looks like you have already selected the three main categories, A stealth character, a melee character, and a magic character.

You can play any of these as a character, or mix and match all the above in a character. You can even play all of them, using separate saves for each one.

There are also gender and race options to consider. Some races are better at magic, for example.

Don't choose something to model your character after. Just shape him/her as you go along, using what feels right.

Like, I'll probably have dual-weilding warrior, or a ranger who uses a bow and sword. Just because those are what appeal to me the most.

Why do people always want to play as Gandalf, Legolas and characters like that?
Use imagination and create your own character!
I did it for every TES game I've played and have actually created several characters for each TES game I've played with each of them having their background and everything.

I would aim for the Viking or Legolas character 1st since they will likely be the most wide rainging in skillsso better for testing and Gandalf character last since that is a bit more specific.

If you like beards Legolas is out.

This is my character.

Two old hunters near a cave;

- What's he up to?
- Up to what now?
- That guy over there. Is he going in to that cave like that?
- Yeah, man. That's the Underdog. You aint heard of him?
- No man. He has a pair of pants and a rusty knife. That's some slim pants to, no potions i guess.
- Do not need aid, I've heard him say.
- Well, I like him.

I'd wait until the game comes out, and you can see what the actual options are. (Since I'm sure character creation will be a bit different, what with the changes to classes/attributes/skills/graphics/etc.)

well the two first characters i didnt really think something specific about the looks, race and whatnot. But the Gandlaf character of course should look like Gandalf, old man, beard, long white hair staff and the same clothes, hat..
