If you're sitting still sniping you're actually FAILING at helping your teammates do objectives. The only thing that would make sniping any decent is if you could do mass recon red line spotting which you can't. You can't only do 1 at a time. You're better off comm hacking to help and you actually have to be in the mix for that.
Not true. It seems that the majority of bad snipers in today's gaming have given the good ones a bad name. Placing yourself in a
tactically ideal position overlooking an objective is actually one of the best ways to help your team in objective-based game play,
as long as there aren't too many people trying to do it. Now, obviously going for the objectives is the best way to help your team,
but playing a 'recon' for your team is nearly as important if done right. An effective marksman prevents the enemy from taking said
objective and makes them think twice about trying it again and severely slows down their process.
Personally, I think the Operative class is perfect for using long rifles, especially as a light. On certain maps it isn't very effective,
but on some maps it can be quite damaging to the enemy team. As a light Op on certain maps you can reach some high places and
really pour a hurting on the enemy team. No to mention that you can red line a couple enemies in 5 seconds time, although it is
harder in online play. Since the Op can't really contribute as much as other classes in intense, close-quarters combat I feel they are
best used as a support role that should hang on the outside of the skirmish and spot enemies and pick off those that are wounded.
