...when it actually works. On the rare occasions when my client allows me to connect to a server with a decent population and a decent ping, the game is new, freshing, and highly entertaining. HOWEVER, this does not happen very often. The netcode for this game is incredibly poor at best. It affects the free running of the game in the worst ways and I feel like I have constant rubber banding when I sprint around the maps as my character. I would love to play this game more, but I want to play it in a complete state, and I cannot comprehend how Splash Damage could have MOVED UP the release date, and then launched a game in this state. In the long run, I am looking forward to seeing this game reach the massive potential that it has. Fix the server latency issues, add some more content and I will play this for years to come. Without these fixes, AND FAST, this game is dead on arrival.
The quality control teams over at Splash Damage need to be fired or at the very least
severely reprimanded. That's not nerdrage, that's not flaming. It's completely unacceptable in this day and age to have so many ridiculous technical problems on a full retail title, let alone all the non technical issues like level of content etc. People defend it, saying most games suffer from bugs and latency issues soon after hitting the market. This is completely valid, but Brink flops in so many areas and at such an unheard of degree it's absolutely inexcusable. This is a game pushed forward for distribution because "it was ready." AI imbecility, graphical anarchy on consoles (360 at least), and a multiplayer component that can't be played. I would love to have your positive albeit rare experience while playing this game (seriously, cause I just know I'd love it), but I just can't seem to get an infernal match going to see it.
