My Commitment to Skyrim and......advlt Pond?

Post » Sun May 15, 2011 5:32 pm

My commitment to Skyrim will be for my first character, Folkvar, to be completely legit. I mean no doing tricks to get gold, dupe items, etc. And even no fast travelling, only until I discover everything. Who's thought about doing the same?

And now I ask you guys what the [censored] is an advlt pond? Look here: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4lrm97dBqNo/TUFlf8E0PZI/AAAAAAAAAYM/zpU1C-tvpWw/s1600/artofskyrim_004_town.jpg

Look on the list where is says "Riften Fishery" and it clearly says advlt Pond. I'm very interested in this.

I tend not to use exploits in any Elder Scrolls game unless I make a character specifically to experiment with the bugs. So yeah, I'll be doing the same as you. I probably will use the fast travel occasionally, but only if I'm travelling back to a location because I accidentally forgot something in town. I did this in Fallout: New Vegas and I found the game to be much more enjoyable for it.

About the Riften Fisheries; I assume the "advlt Pond" is for breeding fish. A fishery is, after all, a fish farm.

Maybe it's where they keep the advlt fish, because many types of fish will eat their young.

Yeah, it clearly says the following:

RIFTEN FISHERIES

- PROCESSING AREAS -

- SMOKERS

- HATCHERY

- advlt POND

- GUTTING TABLES

It's safe to assume fishing is major industry in the Riften area.

Then again, advlt POND could mean something similar to advlt Swim....hopefully the pond has more quality programming

I never cheat for anything in TES unless it's for mod testing purposes. If I am just playing to play, cheating takes out all the fun of the game and makes it get boring fast. So I pretty much always play like that. :)

Perhaps you can take an advlt Swim in advlt Pond?

I'm making an educated guess that we'll see/hear more on Skyrim by the end of April.

That's always the plan. Cheating is sorta lame, but sometimes I end up bringing up the console when I do something stupid and not save for a few hours and lose all of it to the game crashing. At that point it's "TGM" and speed running anything important I did. Fortunately, I only had to do that once in the 80 hours of New Vegas so I think I've gotten better at saving more frequently.

Well, I've never used dupe tricks or anything like that (generally only pull up the console to no-clip out of geometry errors), but I consider Fast Travel to be a basic game feature. No need to skip it.

If there are slaughterfish, it would be a very short swim.

That's the way I play Oblivion. For me it is very rewarding.

I never tried a duping trick or gold trick. I guess I don't really cheat, but I almost always use fast travel once I'm into the game and the awe of walking around everywhere wears off.

I use gameplay mechanics to their fullest, though often it will take me a while to figure things out.
Took me a few years on Morrowind to realise that a damage strength spell would root an enemy to the ground or that I could make a restore fatigue on self constant effect.
I dont think these are glitches and I dont think its overpowered to use something like 100% chameleon. It adds to the replayability if one has more stuff to tweak.

I do not use glitches such as floating paint brush or the soul trap+ spell on self that Morrowind had.

An advlt pond is obviously different from a hatchery, in that it contains the advlt fish and not the young.
