How will you play Skyrim

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 3:06 pm

So i have been reading throughout these forums and a lot of you are saying that with certain characters you create you wont do all of the guilds or the quests and that kind of confuses me.. Your character will either be stealth magic or a warrior and in Skyrim you can complete every quest in your own way...example.. you have to go kill someone for some reason..a warrior can just go straight up to him and challenge him.. a stealth character can stock him and cill him in their sleep.. a mage can cast spells on him.. so ya

I want my Skyrim game to last me for a very long time so does not completing all of the quests each play through keep it more fresh for you or something..? let me know because i am open to suggestions.. im just curious on how the big TES gamers play because ya i want it to last forever

Also after starting the thread a lot of people were thinking on if they want guilds that oppose eachother so i added that

I like to sort of role play. My first character will be a nord/dunmer (not sure yet) he will focus on speed and acrobatics over power with 2 short swords. He'll be the neutral guy, not to bad but not really a hero. He loves a duel and loves battle, war is his home. Probably will do fighters guild mainly, unless theres some war type story line in the mist of the skyrim civil war. :celebration: :hubbahubba: I probably wont do main quest/some guilds on him.

It probably depends on how much I like the initial character I make. Chances are I will do everything with my first though.

Well, an honest warrior of justice, aka Saiyaman may not want to join the Dark Brotherhood. Not because he can't...but mostly because he doesn't want to. Its not always about what they player wants, deep roleplaying is about what the character would want or do.

That said, I myself usually start with a character who does everything, and then later I go back and play with more in depth and specific characters who only do some things or other things.

If it's possible for me to complete every quest and join every guild in one playthrough, I probably wont play Skyrim enough to have a "how I play Skyrim" moment.

Well, I used to do everything with one character. My best Oblivion character is still my very first who has completed every quest. Well, except for the Dark Brotherhood... he killed Lucien for waking him up. I had to do DB with a different character.

But now I do certain guilds with certain characters. I'll do one or two guilds with my first character, then make a new character for some other guilds. Repeat until done with all guilds.

I never tried playing every quest or guild in any play through. It just doesn't make sense to me to play that way in the game. I don't even consider it a role-playing thing. The guilds and quests are optional, and you might want to play as many as you can for higher rep, but I hope that's changed in Skyrim.

I'll do as many quest as I come across. I'm hoping that joining at least some of the factions will make you ineligible for others.

I plan to do specific guilds and quests in according with my character's behavior.

First I want to play a very good character, sort of great saviour as I usually do because it's the way I enjoy the most, so I'm not going to murder people crazily or something.

I will do those kind of quests maybe later with a secondary character.

Same for me. Once I've settled the character's behavior I like to play accordingly.

In Oblivion I did everything with one character on every playthrough. I also never used anyone other than a male breton. With Skyrim I am going to play as a Nord Warrior first and then dabble with the beast races.

I'm all for that and I think a lot of the quests will have multiple paths/outcomes.

I remember when I was new with Morrowind I joined the Mages Guild, and eventually found out more about House Telvanni. Later I had a character that was first in Mages Guild join House Telvanni, and I was a little nervous about what could happen for being in two opposing factions, but it didn't change much besides NPCs disposition. I want it to go deeper than that, so more can happen between factions.

now that i think of it it would create a more dynamic game play..im gonna make a poll on that

Im not much of a role player, but it seems best to save something new for each type of character build. The second run at a game like this is usually the most fun for me, with the clear headed mastery over the games mechanics etc.

I intend to play in the same way I went at Morrowind and Oblivion.Good guy warrior for the first run, then a dubious stealthy dirtbag for the second. This dictates my guild choices of course.

I prefer to take it easy, and save different activities for various character playthroughs.
It's the only way that got me to play Oblivion for over 1200 hours, and Morrowind for over 1500. Well that, plus some mods for Oblivion.
For Skyrim, I will start with a pure thief who tries to avoid hostile encounters, and only cares about acquiring wealth to live well in the city.

Pretty hard to answer this since I don't really know what the game will allow me to do. I haven't been keeping up (and haven't read the thread), so I'm not sure if they've gone with or eliminated the master of all guilds aspect.

Either way, I'll play what I want to. Sometimes I do side quests, sometimes guild quests. I might go for all of the guilds at some point, but not for a long time into the game. Or, if the game bars me from doing so, so be it  In any case, if there's a thieve's guild, I'll hit that up first.

Do you want opposing guilds such as houses in skyrim

I hate to be a grammer-nazi or whatever, but to be more clear you should say :

"Do you want opposing guilds like the Morrowind Great Houses in skyrim?"

not everyone will know what you mean when you just say houses

I loved the Great Houses, and the different little cities you could set up by joining them, It added immensely to the replay value of the game and I would love to see mutually exclusive factions, especially if there's a civil war going on in skyrim it seems only appropriate for each side to have their own quests.
