The Redguard Pantheon.

Alduin:Akatosh::Michael:Mikhail?

Oh [NUMMIT]. I take it back! I take it back! I TAKE IT BACK!

All the parallels seem pretty clear, IMO.

This. I think they're only becoming more cloudy. For one he claims that Akatosh and Lorkhan are present in some form in all pantheons, but he conveniently leaves out that of the Orcs and Argonians (the later of which apparently have no word for time whatsoever). Bring in our discussion on the Redguard pantheon, and it doesn't seem like there's just one right answer to where Aka stands here either. He seems to be present in the form of Akel, in Ruptga, and in Sep. Considering Redguard history, where they originated as a mannish pantheon, became isolated from others of their kind and only exposed to a merrish pantheon for thousands of years, and then abruptly reconnecting with other mannish (and merrish) pantheons, one can begin to understand why important deities like the time god get shredded in the transition.

And furthermore, why is Tu'whacca referred to as the "Tricky God"? Isn't that traditionally Lorkhan's title?

To what merrish pantheon were the redguards exposed? The Left-handed elves? Who were they, anyways?

Antithesis. That's all we'll ever know.

The Left-handed elves?
Them exactly. Don't know much about them, but I suspect their pantheon is similar to that of the High Elves. Killed off by the Redguards.

Re: Lefthanded Elves. 'Varieties of Faith' refers to them as Aldmer. With a 'd'. Make of that what you will.

Leki (Saint of the Spirit Sword): Goddess daughter of Tall Papa, Leki is the goddess of aberrant swordsmanship. The Na-Totambu of Yokuda warred to a standstill during the mythic era to decide who would lead the charge against the Lefthanded Elves. Their swordmasters, though, were so skilled in the Best Known Cuts as to be matched evenly. Leki introduced the Ephemeral Feint. Afterwards, a victor emerged and the war with the Aldmer began.

Huh. You're right. I guess this makes a good inference that the ship that left Firsthold in search of Aldmeris was destroyed somewhere around Yokuda and the Elves there were stranded and could not get back and so they just stayed there and lived and didn't change nearly as much as some of the others. Though it'd have to be a pretty big ship to have a breeding population (then again, the Illio went and founded the Maormer, so maybe inbreeding isn't as much an issue in TES... or myth and song is sometimes fuzzy on the details).

And they're elves, which means low birthrate. I think the ships of the Aldmer must be massive arcs.

Anyway, since we can't find out who Tall Papa is let's discuss something else.

Satakal eating itself is similar to the Nordic kalpa. Yet, the Nordic myths treat Mundus as appearing in other kalpas, but Mundus is a loophole in Redguard myths. And Sep appears in a later cycle, rather than at the beginning. So is Satakal's feast considered a kalpa?

hmm another distinction from the other pantheons that i just noticed is that the stars arent created by fleeing et'ada, but created by tall papa to teach the other spirits the walkabout.
