Too much influence on dungeons, maybe?

Post » Sat May 14, 2011 12:06 am

Don't get me wrong, and I did not start this topic to protest against anything. I always have believed and wil believe that everything about the Elder Scrolls series is great...but I was just playing some Oblivion before the release of Skyrim to get myself hyped, and I couldn't help but notice that if you really wanted a lot of fighting to do, then you'd have to go into some dark and depressing cave or fort or ruin. I have heard that there are some 180 dungeons in Skyrim, and I was sort of nervous. Does this mean that in Skyrim all the action will be in the dark dungeons again?

I am aware that there is some fighting to be done outside, and there are dragons outside...but I still think that there should be less influence on dungeons, and more on outdoor fighting. There is always a beautiful scenery to go with the Elder Scrolls games...but other than talking and the ocasional monster, there is not really anything to do.

Once again, this is not a complaining thread. This is just a question and suggestion.

**Random Question** Are dragons limited? ex. If you kill all the dragons will they be gone or be reborn?

There are actually less dungeons in Skyrim than Oblivion, as well, where did most fighting take place in Oblivion? Dungeons! But don't worry, dungeons are being worked on more, and will be better and more diverse.

About the dragon thing, killing them gives you the power to unlock shouts (once you find the words), so they may be limited, but it isn't known.

I think I read in some interview somewhere that the dragons would be slightly more common that the super-mutant brutes were in Fallout 3.

Of course, I could be misquoting that

Dungeons are basically "Areas that are not just open land that has enemies to fight and sometimes puzzles to solve". Of course there will be wilderness fights and maybe a few open air battles, and also there'sthe dragon raids on villages (maybe banditswill do this too) but apart from that, where and how would most of the fighting take place if not in dungeons?

Usually, (unless for a quest) i'd rather fight in a dungeon. That's just my personal pref, but not if every 4th dungeon looks the same - same light, monster placement, herb/flower/root etc.
Fighting in the open is alright, but there was not really enough of it to make it worth it in oblivion.

Dragons, ive read somewhere official, that there are going to be a decent number of them. I think it was 'more dragons than oblivion gates' but cant be sure.

How many were in Oblivion? I know Skyrim's said to have 130 dungeons.

Along with having more than one guy workling on these should help the quality not quantity AND the not have one-guy-on-a-mega-caffeine binge make all the dungeons factor. In essence expect better dungeons.

i think they were highlighting the dungeon thing not for fighting but to show that they are spending more time.. There were like 10 different kinds of dungeons in skyrim and they were replicated over and over.. this has..and i thought it was 130.. how ever many dungeons but are all unique and wont be repeated though it is less than OB it is about quality and not quantity..even though 180/130 is still a grip of dungeons..they werent emphasizing that for fighting just to show that the quality in the dungeons are better
