Soul Level problem

Well, I've got a bit of an issue that I can't seem to fix on my own, or even properly search for.

The problem is with soul trapping: It seems that a fair number of creatures have soul levels that are higher than they should be. I can kill mudcrabs, and I get common souls. I can't find any petty or lesser souls. (Maybe deer?, but I can't find any atm,) I'm level 15 in an FCOM game, in case that matters...

I'm not even sure what could cause this problem.

I would bet my two cents on this. :)

64  ChrisMOD.esp //This is a minor edit that changes the value of what a given level soul 's total enchantment value is, and the amount of charge a given level soul can use per use.

You can remove that mod to see what changes it has and I think that your game will go back to normal settings. :obliviongate:

If you want to use that mod you can always summon a http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Souls cast a soul trap spell and kill it.

I tried summoning a skeleton, it was trapped in a common soul gem. As a common soul.

I am almost absolutely positive it's not that mod, because I made that mod, (My name is Chris), and it only changes the following values:

iSoulLevelValuePetty 150 -->300
iSoulLevelValueLesser 300 --> 625
iSoulLevelValueCommon 800 -->1250
iSoulLevelValueGreater 1200 --> 2500
iSoulLevelValueGrand 1600 --> 5000

and

fEnchantmentPettyLimit 15.0000 -->50
fEnchantmentLesserLimit 25.0000 -->100
fEnchantmentCommonLimit 40.0000 -->200
fEnchantmentGreaterLimit 60.0000 -->400
fEnchantmentGrandLimit 85.0000 -->800


That's it. Nothing else. I can't see any reason why these would make any difference at all. I also put that text there behind the //'s in the spoiler to try to get a different answer than the one you gave me. Sigh. :-/

I have found things like sheep give me a petty soul. But that doesn't explain why almost everything gives common souls tho, only it rules out that the above is side-effecting the process of soul captures to *all* be upgraded.

What's seemingly happening to me is that all summoned creatures are having a minimum soul level of common. Why this could be, I don't know. (Mudcrabs and skeletons were both summoned creatures)

I see. I didn't know that was you who have made that mod. :)

Did you have a petty soul gem in your inventory when you soultrapped that skeleton?

If you're sure that the skeleton/mudcrab really do have a petty soul, then my money is on "Soulgem Magic", which switches your soul gems around in the background. Disable it, and see if the problem is fixed. If so, you should probably double check your installation of that mod and then contact the author with a bug report.
