Just played with the brand new update

Post » Mon May 16, 2011 7:03 am

Well everyone I just read about a new update for the game and essentially what it does is take down the human players in a game to 4 v 4 with bots. They added a "big teams" mode, where the same number of players every online game has had in its generic matches since 2000 can be players (the original 8v8). The solution to the lag problem that Brink seems near exclusive to having the the world of AAA shooters, is to just have less players.

Alright whatever, thats stupid, but fine, I enjoy the game, a lag free experiance should be better anyway. Well the problem is, in 5 seperate matches in the new "big teams" mode, and 2 in the regular campaign, ive gotten most of the time simply 1 other human playing with me and my max ammount was 3 across both sides. The blank space is filled in by bots naturaly, and naturaly im damn near done with the game. Playing with bots is the worst experiance possible when you want an online human vs human playing session. The bots are fine if theres only 2 or so on a team of 6 humans, but 6 on a team of 2 humans, ruins the experiance completely.

I appreciate what they tried to do, and its great if you are trying to play solo, co-op, or with small numbers of them. But I truely cannot play with them in such high numbers. They're AI is either completely dense and any sense of immersion is thrown 100% out of the window when you see an enemy standing in on spot, shooting from the hip, oblivious to everything, or they are broken in the sense of 3 shots, all to the face when you try to sneak up behind. There is no real middle ground with them, they are unrealisticly good, or god aweful. Either way, they are unbareable to play with.

Literally just now starting up an Oldskool game, there are 6 players in the game total. Pathetic.

If your telling me only 5 guys maximum are playing Brink right now in the modes I chose, then this game is dead. If there are more, then why am I not in the game with them? Why are bots so terrible with their AI? Why was the game released so bugged? Why are there so many bad design decisions? What the [censored] developers?!

EDIT: On my 5 man game, even with a honestly good connection, im still slingshotting around. Whew... Oh ya and ive been noticing a new bug, when im security, my character's hands look like they're my resistance character. Its wierd

They did the team re-size to hold us over until they figure out a fix. Read the article again.

We have been working on updates for Brink to address the lag issue that some people have reported they were experiencing.

In the meantime
, we have made a configuration change for 360 users (which will be available to the PS3, once PSN is up) that alters the number of human players..............

Lol I'm kind of liking that psn is down because all of the 360 players complain to the devs and then they fix it and them boom psn is up and look at that no lag because they fixed it for both consoles

Ahh bummer.. I'll tell ya what worked for me. Play freeplay under Old Skool settings. I have been playing almost lag free games all yesterday and today using that.. on xbox. I try versus campaign, or standard freeplay... horrible lag... Then I try Old Skool.. great games. I don't know what or why its like that, but give it a shot.. nothing to lose.

well before it was impossible lag. now i try playing freeplay games with my friend. first thing he says when he gets in the game is "Why are we playing offline?" so i check and sure enough we are online, only two human players are me and him when it is freeplay set for everyone to join and no one joined (we were on for a good 4 to 5 hours)

Team Resize didn't change anything.

There's still lag even with just 2 players. You can knock the the game down to 2v2 but this crappy netcode will still cause lag 90% of the time.

Its rediuclous. Finally got a 4v4 game, its boring and theres far too few players to have any real intense fun. Yet still all the lag. This [censored] is bananas

Yeah, I'm tired of quitting out of games because I can't even leave my spawn because I rubberband back and forth, or lag warp half way out of the map.

So, I'm shelving Brink until it's fixed or at least playable.

This.

Also, play competitive mode as it's supposedly the most balanced, and 10 players total has less lag of course.
Call of duty 4,5,6, and 7 all have 12-player default modes. That's low enough to avoid most lag. Play "Ground War" and you'll see lag.

They're fixing the lag as well, so just wait for the patch.

Yeh youll see the lag in large team games with the big titles too(CoD, Halo), which is why most people play the 4v4 or 6v6 games. And from what I can tell the 4v4 is mostly just a temp solution while they keep working on it, since the patch today was just part of a bigger one theyre not done yet.

No no, you misunderstand, games come out rough in some cases, I fully understand this. New Vegas had a host of problems im told, I was lucky enough to avoiud them untill the corrupt save bug. It got fixed after like a month and while rediculous and stupid, I still love the game. Brink has bugs, ALOT of bugs, its nigh unplayable, it fluctuates between awesome and absolutly terrible. One has the right to be pissed off that a game was sold in an unfinished, buggy state. They'll fix some of the problems eventually I know, but in the meantime, this game is borderline hilariously pathetic at how miserable its execution of things has been, and damn right im going to comment on that

Freeplay competitive is the way I do things. Lag free, friendly fire, no other settings. That is my type of game

How come every time someone comes in with a valid documented complaint on this forum (youtube videos etc...) do:

A) Some jerk responds about how great a PC is
B) Someone oozes about how great the game is

Are these people Splash Damage interns doing damage control? If so I understand. Can you people going on about how perfect everything is document it w/ youtube footage like all the people who have been documenting how awful things are? People tend to respect tangible facts.

Erm, no. As the guy above said, MAG is fine. I never had trouble with CoD, or Halo etc.

Brink is clearly badly made, and poorly released.

Fan boyz help this continue to happen.

But ( I think it was SVER) was overpowered. Brink seems balanced, it just lags.

BRINK fails Big Time!!
Lag issues, Constant Freezing, Bad Graphics from last Generation, Useless Bots (Stupid A.I),
Enemies swarming on spawn points, Graphic Glitches in Cutscenes....etc, etc, etc

Do you really think they fix this within Days?? Wake up Guys, won′t happen.

You can′t even play the game properly and some of YOU Guys are flipping out
because of some crappy FREE DLC. LOL :celebration:
If somebody hand u 5 Bucks u surely love him do you.....

BRINK will be on Sale next thursday for 30 Bucks in my town because the Sells are so bad. :foodndrink: LMAO
This Game is DEAD already.

:fallout:
