Question Regarding the Dead Horde RP

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 7:20 pm

I recently started an RP titled "The Dead Horde." This is a message to all who were invoved in this RP.

The first thread was a disaster. You guys went way too fast, eating up thread space with short or OOC only posts. The other RPers, including me, could barely keep up. And when I was absent and the thread reached the post limit, you guys justs added 38 posts of spam. I did not start this RP to be a spam thread. I wanted it to be a serious RP.

If I'm going to make another thread, it is going to be serious. No more short posts. RPers will make posts consisting of at least 50 words, more if possible. Any major dialogue conversations will be worked out via PM and then posted it one post. Fight sequences will be done in the same manner. OOC should be kept to a minimum, and must have an accompanying IC of at least 50 words.

If I don't get enough "yes" votes I will not make another thread. Any voters must also post their committment in this thread, or else their vote will not be counted by me.

I apoligise for all the spam in the end.

And i was hoping it would slow down also, we were losing RPers and i could barely keep up myself sometimes.

I thought it was a brilliant idea for an RP, but like you said, the thread got eaten up by people double-posting instead of editing, making tons of tiny dialog posts and dual-posting back and forth with one another. While I'm sure you understand that sometimes dialog posts can be small and there's nothing you can do about it, having 20 of them in a row between two people is absurd.

Forrest, my only issue with those rules is working out dialog via PM before posting; some of us live in other timezones and are simply not on at the same time to do this, or only have a little bit of time to make a post and run off to do something in real life. I cannot see that being practical. I'd personally suggest just emphasizing making the most out of every post, edit if you need to add something and you're the last poster, and discourage excessive dual-posing between two people while nobody else is on.

Also, to those whom it concerns, restrain yourself a little from time to time; if you've posted a few times within the last hour, hold up a little. Let some other people post first and then post again once the others are caught up.

Of course, you're the Host, so you call the shots, but.. that's just my two cents.

Aula summed it up perfectly. Without naming anyone, some people could really do with leaving a bit of time between each of their posts, rather than slamming in ten in an hour - or if you're travelling/doing something describe it in detail, show off with your writing, that's what this is all about. It means more waiting for others, but it's FAR easier to keep up with.

I suppose you're right about the dialogue thing. But if two people know that they'll both be on at the same time for a while, they shouldn't make a conversation drag out into twenty posts.

I agree as well. I may have posted a few single OOCs, but I tried to make long posts. I agree with the dialogue part though. That might be a bit tough. Maybe they can just edit their original posts.

EDIT: I want to know who voted no. :P

Seconded. Now that we've got all of this straight, I'm gonna get to work on the new thread.

I do not agree with the dialogue thing.

Post your words, but also post how your character feels and all that jazz to spice up the post.

And I see that this has jumped three more pages in a day..... 3 pages in six hours no less.....

Yes, this RP looks like it has potential, and I really want to try it out.

The posts are still short, I might add. Not to sound pessimistic, but yeah, I've had enough time to post 1 meaningful post so far. I'm just thankful I'm not in the action.

I made a character for it, you approved it, but by probably accident, he wasn't posted. I was going to ask you to fix it, but it moved so fast I had no chance! I will definetly play this time around.

Yeah, the post length hasn't gotten any better really.
The RP has slowed down a lot I think. The first thread was like 7 pages in six hours.
