Daggerfall RP?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 7:56 am

Back in June last year I started a Daggerfall RP thread after seeing someone asking on the forum if there was any. Initially it seemed like a good idea, but unfortunately only two decided to join, which I thought wasn't enough to get started with so I gave up. Now, I'd like to know if there's anyone here who'd join an RP based on the story of Daggerfall.

I haven't played, but I'd be more than willing to try an RP. What year does it take place in? I might be able to use an ancestor of one of my current characters.. :P

I'd willingly join... Maybe if Verlox is still involved in any RPing he may be persuaded to join.

How to handle fast-travel, though... since the world is too large for it not too be involved.

But which of my characters...

Dar'shandi, Ohmes-raht Acrobat of Orcrest (I have a tendency to make him uber, though. His persona too heavily influenced by Aladdin and the titular Prince of Persia, though I've thrown a bit of native Therris in just for good measure)

Davian Hawkeye (Killed after I had a sudden break from RPing here), the Ohmes-Raht noble and thieves guild member who thinks he's a Breton

A currently-unnamed female khajiit who is an acolyte of Kynareth, archer in the Fighter's guild, and fringe thief? (Caution, her outfit is similar to Kynareth's: A blue formal bra, long loincloth, and blue traveler's cloak.)

A currently-unnamed Redguard, priest of Ebonarm (and thus high-ranking Fighter's guild member) and all-around bad-ass warrior from the Alik'r desert. Being a redguard, however, he is not afraid to run away...

Cyrus: A blatant rip-off of the second-era hero of the same name...

Griffin McNeil: A bretonic Knight-errant of the Host of the True Horn, and thus considered an outlaw in his homeland, Lainlyn

A mysterious character who only goes by the name of BatmanBaan Dar, patrolling the streets of Gotham CityDaggerfall protecting wayward citizens from the Joker, Riddler, Catwoman, and the Penguin Lysandus's spectral legion.

Just one question: What do we do about the content of the Illiac bay as lined out in "A Rude Song"? Some parts of Daggerfall (Nymphs, NymphosYoung Dunmer Women, certain other elements are not family-friendly content...

I'll join. I've got a young Breton squire who would fit right in.

But they haven't told me where you're from :P... Anyway, as long as his name isn't French he'll fit right in. I've come to the conclusion the French-themed Bretons were exiled from High rock because of their ridiculous accents and silly names.

Eh, his name's Eoin Cassivel. He's just a greasy, sarcastic bastard who likes fighting but tends to be cowardly. He likes to think he's possessed of low cunning, but he isn't really. Haha...

Going to giggle like little untouched boys and girls. Seriously though what relevance does this have?

None at all, yet all at once as well...

Did you hear about the Barenziah's thoughts on Castle Daggerfall?

I think if I play as one of my non-redguard characters, I'll carry a copy of "Redguard Heroes of the War of Betony"

I think I have more to say on the subject...

Looking at the way the other MQ-based RP's were started (End of an Era, ...But One Remains, The Imperial Simulacrum(first time around)), the planning thread is a bad idea. This is the kind of RP where you just jump in. Everybody knows the story, so that doesn't need to be discussed. And because everyone knows the story, you have to impress us with your portrayal of the introduction.

It seems that if you get a good OP, then people will more readily join. The way I see it, it would be best to start in one of three places:

Aboard the ship during the storm:
Requires no preliminary players and allows people to join as though they were always there up until the wreck, and players can be from anywhere. However, it requires not only careful pacing to keep the disaster from occuring too soon or too late, but also requires a run through Privateer Hold, which if not handled properly, can be a headache for a dungeon run so early on.

Privateer Hold:
If you get preliminary players, they can join before the IC starts as fellow castaways, and it has an urgent survival setting. However, it can lead to new-player confusion, as they either need to be fellow stranded characters, or picked up later in the cavern. It could get wierd if players start just appearing in the cave as they join.

Gothway Garden (Just south of Privateer Hold): Avoids the confusion of the shipwreck and dungeon run, and allows for native players to join. However, it can lead to the stagnation that killed both Imperial Simulacrum threads (moreso the second than the first).

Personally, I think earlier is better, but again, it can lead to pacing issues later.

EDIT: Oh yeah... Make sure it has a catchy title.

I'd give it a try, never really RP'd before, but I want to get into it.

Yeah cause that's not at all racist. On topic, maybe but all of the RP's I have joined have died (The Antidote, Dark Ages, 1st Crusade of Sentinel & The Eternal Hunt prequel) can someone maybe go over some of my posts and see what the h-e double hockey sticks I am doing wrong?

I can't be bothered to check your work, but... 1st Crusade of Sentinel I believe was an SoS wannabe (even though the SoS crowd was supportive of it, competition with the IMMORTAL! BLOOD! TIMELINE! probably sealed its fate...

Eternal Hunt... the creator committed virtual suicide... (I ended up doing that a few days ago... Lost two of my most unique khajiit characters in the process...)

If I remember, the others I've glanced at may have fallen under Sturgeon's 90%...

So, its not your fault.
