Morag Tong, Dark Brotherhood, Camonna Tong or something new?

Post » Wed May 11, 2011 12:03 am

In the way that Wal-mart and Mom&Pop's hardware store are rivals. It's still really unlikely that the Morag Tong has existed at all after the destruction of Morrowind.

I just have to disagree.

200 years later the border lines are not as definite. Morag Tong operating outside Morrowind, especially in the nearby Skyrim, can't really be persecuted for the Empire.

Will Mephela worshipers just stop worshiping her because the Argonians took over Morrowind?

The DB should be the more secular organization, compared to the Morag Tong. If anything, it should be the Morag Tong who are the religious fanatics, with each kill in the name of Melphala.

Yes i agree...dunmers are very religious folks...and it isnt a surprise...since they had all their three gods alive for awhile...

Don't forget the Dark Sisterhood!!! They are so exclusive they don't exist.

But yeah, the Dark Brotherhood is definitely going to be back and hopefully they throw in the Morag Tong to compete with the Dark Brotherhood, but now they aren't sanctioned

But, with the Oblivion Crisis, the Red Year, and the expulsion from Morrowind, I'm going to place some money that the dunmer are either going to head back to ancestor worship (without the daedra), or go through a crisis of faith. While the gods in TES most certainly exist and make themselves known, the dunmer people will likely feel betrayed by the daedra, and abandoned by the Tribunal.

I have a feeling the dunmer we knew in MW will not be the same dunmer we'll see in Skyrim.

I bet my money on "crisis of faith."Almalexia killed Sotha Sil...Nerevarine killed Almalexia and then goes to Akavir...Vivec is abducted by Azura...damn these poor dunmers!
They will become atheists!

No, not atheists. Even the dwemer weren't atheists. Feeling bitter, cynical and betrayed, sure. But to deny the gods existence? Doubtful.

yes they definitely could have been atheists. IMO there's a pretty good chance. In "The Battle of Red Mountain", it is mentioned that "[they] preferred instead their gods of Reason and Logic."<-(copied from uesp).

Dwemer preferred "Reason and Logic" to blind loyalty to gods. But they believed in the gods' existence -- in Nirn, it's more a fact than a belief.

The Dwemer had no way of knowing that the gods are actually "gods" or if they are like the tribunal, if there's some scientific reason behind their supposed immortality and their powers.

All we know in Nirn and about its beginning of time is what we have in the literature, and you can't believe everything you read.

Really? I always thought it was a given that the Nine were true gods.

That's what they'd have you believe. IMO at least... it's a fantasy world so who knows.

EDIT: all i know is that Tribunal faked their godly powers, lied about the events that led to getting thier powers, and people worshiped them as gods. Is is such a stretch the other "gods" did the same, but on a much much larger and longer scale.

The Heart of Lorkhan could have a perfectly scientific explanation behind it... again this all just my humble opinion, this is a fantasy game.

That would then imply that they've been destroyed.

Yes, it is most likely that they are no longer around. But, if they are still around, they would no longer be in Vvardenfell.

To clarify, it was the nords of Solstheim, NOT Skyrim, that gave lots of charity to the dunmer in MK's hint. In Skyrim, I would gander to say it was a lot of refugees living in the good graces of the nords. Having the Camonna Tong and Morag Tong would put suspicion and resentment in the minds of the nords, who are not known for being very mer friendly.

In fact, I'd gander to say much of the dunmer culture we knew is pretty much going to change a lot. They're a scattered people, who have been abandoned (likely in their view) by their gods, the daedra and the Tribunal. They live in lands that are nearly a 180 from what they're used to. The fact the nords of Skyrim (not Solstheim, they're a different people) have yet to either kick them out or finish the job speaks how lucky they are, and how much they are being tolerated by the nords. If they began murdering each other and the people who are allowing them to stay, along with having a highly xenophobic gang try to push people around, it would only cause them to be weakened, and bring the hatred and resentment of the nords, who do not need that much pushing to kill off mer.

Oh, forgot to mention the MT is a religious organization. They kill to appease Melphala, and are more religious than the DB. The DB is a much more secular organization, in comparison.

Yes, you're right I forgot they went to Solthseim. However, I wouldn't be surprised if they overstayed their welcome and were forced to leave.

The DB is more money orientated.
