Best Brink Character Builds- Your Faves and More....

Post » Sat May 21, 2011 11:03 am

So....with the limit on 'Abilities' you can pack on single Brink Character to 20, I've already settled on a few obvious choices, as I'm sure most of you have.
Since you can basically max out a single class, take all the best Universal abilities (I love extra pips, reloading while sprinting, etc...not so sure I need to shoot grenades outta the air) and -sorta- hook up a secondary class, I'm pretty settled on Engineer, with Medic as my secondary.
I wonder if Armor Piercing Ammo and Kevlar Vest (Soldier Class) aren't manditory, however, for those times when you need to blow something up, and everybody ELSE is already an Engineer or Medic.

I would LOVE to go Soldier with an AR and Satchel Charges, but even I can't resist the lure of playing with TWO SMG's...when one runs outta ammo I just yank out the other- jesus it's brutal...AND KINDA UNBALANCED.
Sure hope Splash Damage adresses the 'gun balance' issue

I kinda think my choices are obvious, after a through run-throughs, due to some balance issues in the game.
I think a Team of combined Engineers (with Turret and Dual Landmines) and a couple of Medics is tough to beat, but that's just an opinion.
I'm curious to see if anyone is enjoying Operative or Soldier builds, and why, and how they're running them....hence the poll and thread.

The imgoingtokeepourteamrolling Medic. I'm all about not dying. Dying is unhealthy and unfortunate.

Operative is my favourite, but Medic/Soldier get a fair amount of love from me too.

About the only thing I have trouble with is the Engineer - I'm not a good Engineer.

As such, I've ignored Engineer abilities and leveled up the others instead, to take advantage of my strengths.

Rather than repost: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1190642-operative-skills-are-they-useless/page__view__findpost__p__17687172

I prefer to play a pointman/behind enemy lines role. Especially when I'm with a group on voice comms.

And operative fits that role best for me (started as soldier before exploring operative).

Honestly though, with 20 points, not all the class skills are worth having, and not all the universal skills are worth having. I've planned out a character that works for me, and could easily be tweaked a bit to fit two roles instead of the three I'm planning on. (Operative/Soldier/Engineer)

Operative: Sticky Bomb, Caltrop Grenades, Cortex Bomb, Hack Turret, Comms Hack, EMP Grenade, Firewall Command Post.
Soldier: Satchel Charges, Kevlar Vest + Armor Piercing Ammo (cancel each other but they're necessary imo), Extra Magazine.
Engineer: Improved Weapon Buff, Extra Landmine, Gear Head, Command Post Upgrade.
Universal: Sprinting Reload, Battle Hardened, Sprinting Grenade, Silent Running, Supply Max Increase.

Engineer without turrets because ideally I'm running around dropping landmines at chokes and buffing teammates, and killing the opposition.

Or cut down to two roles I would do Operative + Soldier. (Probably more ideal)

+Soldier: Grenade Mastery, Frag Blast, Grenade Damage (They all three go hand in hand).
+Universal: Resupply Rate Increase (Helps with the grenades)

All from the perspective of being a light mobile force of destruction.

Medium Medic using Gerund and Galactic is so far my fav.

Get all the extra pips possible, increase main buff skill and get Revive Self. I also went for the odd universal like Battle Hardened and Silent Footsteps. The diversity of great damage at both close AND mid range, combined with Revive Self, pretty much makes you a defense/rush super-soldier who keeps everybody else alive too.
