Very Unlikely, but....

I know Bethesda never does and this is wishful thinking btw, but this game will be so epic and I wonder if they ever thought about releasing a demo at all. I know this has been mentioned before so don't start harpin' on me cause' I know but it hasn't been mentioned in a while.

Personally If I was given a demo I would refuse it , I want the first time I play TESV I want to play hours on end not a demo to tease me in hurtful ways.

So what was the point in mentioning it?

I want the first time I play TESV I want to play hours on end not a demo to tease me in hurtful ways.

This.

Not interested in a demo for this. I want the full game from fresh. I can't see a demo for this kind of game increasing sales for Bethesda either, so to me, it seems unlikely.

Same here. When I play it for the first time I want to fully immerse myself for a few hours, not just 20-30 mins. Demos are great for some games but not TES, imo.

Getting teased is why I keep up with the stuff now. I'd go right ahead and get the demo.

You're welcome, BTW, I could have said something that would have been absolutely filthy just now. I hope you all appreciate it.

I wouldn't mind being able to download the character creator a few weeks before the game.

Pete's said multiple times there will not be a demo. It's not "unlikely" it's "definite".

It might be cool to not have a full out demo, but like a battle simulator where they keep throwing monsters at you and changing your weapons randomly. It might be pretty neat. It wouldnt give away much and just get you excited with fighting.

If they make a demo, it should be the tutorial quest in a closed off area (you die if you try to go out of it + console is disabled for PC). Bonus feature: You can make one save so your character is out of the tutorial so you don't have to drudge thorugh the mess the whole way through. (Saving again forces you to overwrite the old save.)

Character development takes too long for a Demo to be realistic.

There wont be a public demo, that's been confirmed by Pete Hines himself.
They have never demo'd their games, they wouldn't start now. No point. They have an entire team of people working on this. Bethesda is a big company, they don't need our help seeing if it's a good game or not.

I think we can safely say there will be no demo, aside from the fact that Bethesda's policy has not been to release demos, there's also the fact that the Elder Scrolls really isn't the kind of game that lends itself to demos, how would you define what parts of the game should be included in a demo when you have an open world game? You'd probably have to artificially constain the player to a select part of the game, say, one dungeon, and thus wouldn't be able to properly demonstrate the open world exploration, one of the defining aspects of the Elder Scrolls. Simply put, a demo for Skyrim just couldn't be done feasibly in any way that would properly demonstrate the game, I think.

At least, there won't be a public demo, I wouldn't be surprised if Bethesda will demonstrate the game, possibly with live gameplay, at E3, I don't know if people there will be able to play it themselves, though, I guess we'll see.

TES isn't a newcomer on the scene. Thanks to Oblivion, pretty much everyone knows about it and what to expect from it. There is therefore no rationalein spending time and resources making something that is intended to introduce people to the game when the hype is already large enough for a solid momentum during release. You only make demos when you make a new game or your sequel differs from the previous game so dramatically you could call it a completely different game.
