Boarders to Morrowind?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 5:25 pm

I have played morrowind pretty much since it came out with alot of breaks ofcourse and during my many hours of game play my little brain noticed that morrowind is an island.. Obvious my little brain must have got it wrong? Because after playing oblivion i noticed that cyrodil boarders to morrowind? wtf? i also remember reading sevreal places that bethesda has said that cyrodill and morrowind are two different places. Cyrodil = Main Land and Morrowind = Island.. Is there a good explanation to this?

Morrowind is a province on the mainland and on an island, the game Morrowind takes place on the island of Vvardenfell in Morrowind.

The Oblivion map cuts of just where Morrowind starts.Just look at a full map of Tamirel and you'll understand.

The game Morrowind takes place on the island of Vvardenfell, which is part of the province of Morrowind. Morrowind is, of course, part of the Empire.

The parts of Morrowind that border Cyrodiil (and the other provinces) are not featured in the game 'Morrowind'.

Morrowind's expansion, Tribunal, features an interior-celled section of Morrowind's capital, Mournhold. Mournhold is a 'holy city' that is itself part of a wider city called Almalexia - just like the Vatican is in Rome.

For Morrowind's other expansion, an island called Solstheim was created, just off the coast of Vvardenfell towards Skyrim. Solstheim does not appear in earlier maps.

For those interested in the whole of Morrowind, http://tamriel-rebuilt.org/ is attempting to rebuild the whole of Morrowind, and so far it's pretty swell.

It is? I never knew that. It always bothered me that Mournhold seemed smaller then Vivec.

TR_Map3 contains Almalexia. And don't worry, it is the largest Morrowind city ever modded.

Large meaning, huge and 2 times the size of Vivec, or large meaning just 'large'? Large as in walking through it takes three days? I need it! Tamriel rebuilt is the best thing since Internet.

Three Morrowind days for exploring it entirely? Probably. Easily more, in fact.

Wow, looks nice. It's too bad that my PC has the processing power of a rodent's left ear, otherwise, I would totally download that. maybe one day, when I get a Laptop or upgrade this crappy old PC that I'm using.

I am neither an administrator, core member, or exterior designer so I have no answers to your comments and questions.

However, the city is the capital of Morrowind, of House Indoril, and of the Lady of Mercy Almalexia. It's not going to have a shabby slum district. The paupers are not welcome here, and there are poor settlements not too far from the city.

As for the rock pile, it's a rocky place. The city is surrounded by mountains, and it would have been quite strange if the mountains formed a perfect square.
