Sutch City Plan

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 8:18 pm

oksy, as some of you may know i started a mod that would, by using lore, put the city of sutch back where it belonged. However due to a total hard drive fail, i may have lost the mod. Therefore im restarting it, and now im trying to get a better City plan.

Hears the best picture i can get.http://www.uesp.net/w/images/OB-Sutch_Kvatch_Skingrad.JPG

Now im trying to figure out what each of those things are.

Where do you think the castle is? Is the long line to the lake the famous aqueduct that ive learnt of?

Im presuming they worship Kynareth, as that was the only god left out in the game (although excuses were made up in KoTN). If so then it should have been a very beautiful city with trees, plants and a ton of other flora.

I have also heard somewhere that it was a rich city with merchants and the main travel route to Hammerfall.

I also heard that it a legion stronghold, where they train new recuits, is this true? how would this fit in with nature?

please i want this to be as lore friendly as possible, please correct my mistakes if they are wrong.

Not much lore to speak of, but that's a cool picture. I'd bet you anything that line is an aquaduct.

Hmmm...I could run a blown up image of the city through a few filters. Might not be able to say exactly what is what, but it could help to find a good layout to aim for.

if you could that would be great! :)

its so cluttered unlike the other nearby cities of kvatch and skingrad where you can easily see the buildings and streets

Ok...I've tried Initial filtered pictures of Sutch. Decided to try it on the other Picture of Sutch that's available (from the ending credits I believe. Trying to see if I can't get a better picture though, but with so few sources, it's not exactly easy. -_-

Here's my Sutch Layout speculation. Ignore the Legion barracks speculation (I realize now that there's nothing there ). I'm only really confident in the street layout though.

On another note, I'm sure you've heard about the CreditsMenu.bik? In your "Oblivion/Data/video" folder? Some people know of it, but in case you haven't, it contains an older mainmenu scroll map, with the older version of the game's map in the background. It scrolls all the way from the west to east, giving a decent glance at how things were planned. Sutch happens to be on this map as well, and while it's playing if you look hard enough you can get a much better idea at what the layout could have been. If you download the Rad Video Tools, you should be able to view the files, in case you might be interested in looking at them. ^_^

Much of the reason why we can make out Kvatch and Skingrad is probably because we're all so familiar with their layout already.

Isn't there a fort Sutch in the game? Which would make nteh modded version odd with a fort and a town with the same name...

Then what about Fort Alessia? There's a fort and a person with the same name. And, barring forts, what about Umbra?

Besides, I was always under the assumption that Fort Sutch was a fort near Sutch.

Care to share any more info on the project?

I once heard say that Sutch was the original main base of the Blackwood.

Fort Alessia is named after a person, but there is no city of Alessia, and there is no city of Umbra that I am aware of.

Oh yes... I thought the fort was near Chorrol. if they are close together, as opposed to one being in Colovia and the other near chorrol, it makes more sense.

I don't imagine there is much more info in existence other than that which has already been gathered. You are probably going to be working on imagination and that low res map from hereon in.

However, I did find this:

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Mystery_at_Harluns_Watch#Journal_Entries

On the final journal entry, It says Azzan is in Sutch. This presumably means that is where he was originally going to be, so perhaps there is supposed to be a significant fighters guild presence there, given The head of the training centre of Anvil was originally located there.

You missed the point, Turns. I never said there was a city called Alessia or Umbra, you just brought up that it wouldn't make sense for there to be a city named Sutch and a fort named Sutch, and I brought up that there is a fort called Alessia and a person called Alessia, and that there was a sword called Umbra and a person called Umbra. Got it?

As for it being the original base of the Blackwood Company...that doesn't make any sense at all. The are the BLACKWOOD Company, so they operate in the Blackwood reigon. For Sutch to be their original base, it'd have to be in Blackwood, and it clearly isn't.

My point was only relevant if the two places were on different points of the map. Since it seems they aren't, their existence in close proximity is not odd.

Fort Sutch is most probably the remnants of Sutch's castle. That's how I see it, anyway.

Why can't there be the old, ruined Fort Sutch and the bustling city of Sutch together? Outside of many of the other cities there are un-named ruins of forts (they don't have entraces and they end up with Oblivion Gates sticking out of them). It's probably wrong but I've taken to seeing them as the first or original fort/castle of the towns, maybe what was there before there possibly was a town. Does that make sense?

What I have heard about Sutch it seems a nice and intresting city, close to Hammerfall ? ... It should be a border town than, probaly with lots of Red Guard in it (Hammerfall the Home of the Red Guard Race), I also heard it's more or less a 'las vegas' of cyrodill, so this probaly means a couple of gaming centres, maybe a 'red light district', in it ... I'f it has a own aqueduct to suply water I guess it's not a poor city but rather rich like Skingrad

i wish you good luck

It should have a lot of Imperials, since it lies in Cyrodiil. But I agree that it should have more Redguard than other (non-cyrodiilic) races, though still a minority.
