Stutter near light sources

Besides these, the "invisible" mods here include various OBSE (v19 btw) plugins like OSR, OBGEv1, Pluggy, Elys_silentvoices etc as well as the 4 GB exe hack

My system is kinda ancient - 4 GB DDR2 with a Core2 E4600 and Geforce 8400GS but it runs Oblivion with a miraculous framerate thanks to the 4 GB patch (or OSR :P loaded them both simultaneously) I've also pyffied all my oblivion meshes (the BSA ones) using pyffi 2.1.6 and repacked all BSAs uncompressed

Thing is, ever since I pyffied stuff, most light sources seem to stutter like hell for me - most recent experience being the bruma mage guild attack and even more recently, the final benirus manor lich area. The moment the candles go out of my sight, the game comes back to its free-flowing pace.

I tried an experiment (cause I had the vanilla BSAs backed up :P) and created a save right before entering the arsonized bruma mage guild with both pyffied and non-pyffied BSAs - results being that while both stuttered, FPS was noticeably better on the non-pyffied BSA

I'm gonna ditch this install for a fresh FCOM as soon as all my mods get pyffied so what I'd like to know is -

is pyffi the culprit??
If yes, exactly which folders do I skip to prevent pyffing the fire/flame/candle meshes??
And more importantly, exactly how do I skip folders in the latest pyffi?
The skip list works on just files right??

Perhaps try removing the light flicker effect? That is known to cause slowdowns on low-end systems.

There is a Bashed Patch tweak available for this.

Thanks for the tip but it didn't do the trick :(

Update: Noticed something in the Anvil Docks - stuttering starts NOT when I see a lamp but when I have some crates (and just crates) in view! Also noticed that when I open a crate, the sides fall open and keep bouncing up and down. Closer inspection reveals that there seems to be another pair of sides that haven't opened up but are shaking (meaning the sides are moveable)

Is Harvest Containers causing containers to overlap or something?? I highly suspect the havoc Crates addon is behind this ...
