Right now im using the second turret, and while i think there a tiny bit better, only very few times has it killed someone, it usually just gets a few shots off ends up blowing up....and i really feel like its down to the lock on .......maybe im to use to the ones on killzone :gun:

They should make it like tf2 when putting it down, Like show little lines of how the vision of the turret will be.

Lock on should be slightly faster, and does anyone know if gattling turrets get more hp?

I have gatling turrets, just have not used them yet. If the medium turret has more hp than the light turret, probably. I've been playing as operative, because operative is the fastest way to level.

I voted no for a simple reason.

Already there are situations when the defense team can plant 4 or even 5 turrets and make it very difficult to ever do anything against it.
Right now, with log on taking some time, i can run past it when close to corners, i can emp grenade it without insta dying when i come in sight etc.

Turrets can be superhelpful right now, as i have stated in another post, i dont like abilities that are so good, they get close to beeing Iwin buttons. Turrets, strategically placed are awesome. They do not need a buff.
I would even go as far as to say that i would like a limit on how many turrets can be placed at any one time.

Actually i am very very very positive that Medic is the fastest way to level as they consistently get the most xp.

My main is a engineer and the lockon definatly should NOT be faster, It works fine as it is now.
You can give up any hope for a tf2 like turret here, afterall here you don't get stuck with a [censored] shotgun if you go engineer.

Turrets are perfect as they are, I get plenty of kills with them as engineer, and also get a bunch as operative.

yes but just slightly, i dont want way over powered COD style turrets, and maybe a slight range boost, even the bot can shoot and kill them out of their atk range

It costs as much to put down as a landmine, can shoot forever, can be repaired, and doesn't take long at all to set up. It's a support piece, not something you can drop in a hallway and then just assume is going to murder everyone that comes that way.

Also, if it had a better lock on... why would operatives ever take control of them?

Don't put it right next to them and also, they are for support fire, not being a COD death turret.

As someone commented on that video...

"The turrets in Brink are activated by AGGRO, not enemies passing through you need to place it on a spot where enemies will be aiming+shooting at, or where they will cross the barrel of the turret They basically return fire or shoot people that stay infront? of their barrel for a long time set them up where your team will be and they work like a charm, the enemy will get ripped apart as soon as they start firing"

This ^^^^

I'm an all out engineer and feel that they mediums are just right. Drop the turret and chase fleeing people into the fire. It softens up or finishes off and that's all I want it to do. It should not be able to replace a whole team with holding an area.

good, then I have been using them correctly. I usually place them at chokepoints where there's going to be a lot of fighting.

Turrets need a major patch.

I've seen 5 people run by my Turret, WHILE IT WAS AIMING at them, and it didn't fire a single round.

EDIT: Now, I'm not saying the turrets should be the same as the Spawning Area Turrets, their damage is fine as is...the locking and health needs buffed.

I have a Medium Turret and it takes about as much damage as the Light...=|

I wish it would show the turret's vision too. I don't think the turret needs any change other than that though.

I voted no because I don't think turrets should be able to completely lock down an area in the same way a turret can in TF2. In TF2 many classes have ways of dealing with turrets (scouts speed drink thing, ubercharge, demoman stickies etc.), but because those things don't exist in Brink the turrets shouldn't be killing machines. They should be used as more of a support role in a choke point. I think that decreasing lock on time would make them too strong, because they already do some heavy duty damage.

Voting no because if they are properly placed then they kick ass.

At first I would have agreed, they never seemed to do anything. Its just a matter of finding a blind spot to place it in, learn the map, and then put it where you know most people won't be looking. Place some mines for an extra nasty surprise, it'll knock them down and the turret will finish them off.

That or use it like its being used on the video. It fires every now and then and serves as support fire. Working as intended really.

Thats what I do, I put on Mine infront of it, which knocks down the player, by the time he gets up hes allrdy been locked onto.

Also like to place on mine behind it to mess up operative hihi :)

Fact is Turrets are a AMAZING tool if used correctly, and worthless if you don't make good judgement calls on where to place them.

Medic is the fastest way imo. Got to level 20 in a couple day.

Nah. The turret is just fine. You need to get a friend to play an operative with Remote Turret. That way the friend can control the turret, while you assist in shooting at baddies while repairing the turret.

I hit level 20 a couple days ago and have been using the gatling turret. So far, it seems to lock on more reliably than either the medium or light turret ever did, on top of doing more damage and seeming to have slightly higher health.

I do think the light and medium turrets need improvement. They simply arent reliable enough right now - if they had the same lock on speed that the gatling turret seems to have (and since we have no idea how the lock on really works, all I can go off of are assumptions from my experience playing), they'd be just as useful barring the lower damage and health they have in comparison. Before level 20, I easily got more kills than I even got hits with the light and medium turrets, but the gatling turret seems to be holding it's own pretty well now.

For those engineers having issues with turrets, there's a few things you can do to make them more effective (even the light and medium turrets);

1. Dont use turrets to block off an area, use them to cover your back. Whenever I'm capturing a command post or trying to repair/construct an objective, I drop a turret to serve both as a physical shield (since it will block bullets that are being aimed at you if positioned properly), and as a distraction.

2. Use the turrets as a warning system. You can tell when your turret is firing, and when it is being shot at, by the turret icon above your supply meter. I often use those signals to determine if a key area is under enemy attack so I can go deal with the enemies myself. Usually this is used for command posts that I'm not actively defending (I often cover two command posts on a map by myself, putting mines/turrets at one and dealing with the other personally, and I can move back and forth when the mines/turrets show signs of enemies at the other location).

3. Use mines to give your turrets time to target. If you put a turret facing a doorway, and then put a mine in the doorway, any enemy that comes through that doorway will trip the mine and be knocked down - that gives the turret a couple seconds longer than usual to pick up the enemy and start firing. That little trick alone is the only thing that made my light and medium turrets worth using at lower ranks.

Turrets are fine they serve as an obstacle or a decoy they arn't meant to kill. If they were any stronger then it would require more firepower to the players so they can deal with the upgraded turrets.

TF2 is a great example of this:

Sentries are strong and they lock on fast but the reason they are so is to compete with Soldiers and Demos who are very effective against sentries. Still sentries go down and are mere obstacles and a first line of defense compared to the rest of the combat classes which are a better form of defense. Sentries are meant to go down they are a distraction to pull attention away when the attacking team uber in to destroy the sentry and not the enemy team.
