Ok, so I have seen Aylied ruins, why are the there? Is there a map of Mundus? Whatever happened to the Akaravi? Why don't the other places invade? So many questions, need anserws!

Do you mean a map of Nirn? Nirn is the planet.

As I understand it Mundas is the universe (vs the Deadric universes).

And I haven't seen a map of Nirn.

Aylied ruins are there because the Aylieds built them back in the Merethic era. There is no map of mundus, I'm afraid. The Akaviri in Cyrodiil probably died out or left.

And other places don't invade because, aside from Akavir, there are no other continents in Nirn with the ability to invade. Atmora is is frozen over, Yokuda is underwater, and Aldmeris may or may not exist.

Seeing as mundus means "world" in latin, I'm of the opinion that it generally means the same thing as Nirn.

The "universe" is called the Aurbis. More properly, the Aurbis is the name for the patterns of possibility that resulted from the touching of Anu and Padomay.

Of course. Mundus is the rootword for mundane. Not mundane ring as in the MW artifact, the actual word that means ordinairy.
Mundane = normal, Normal for us is the earth, therefore mundane actually means earthly (as opposed to heavenly).

Still, though, Mundus in in the middle of the wheel. There is no real map of the Mundus.

I can only recall one source that calls the Mundus the "Grey Maybe", and that's in the Third Edition Pocket Guide. However, I think that "Grey Maybe" is more appropriate when applied to the Aurbis as a whole.

Proweler and I have had this discussion before. I think it's safe, therefore, to make a distinction between a Grey Maybe and the Grey Maybe, just as it's necessary to make a distinction between a mantella and the Mantella.

Anyway... the point is, OP, that there is actually no map of either of them. The closest thing we have is a metaphor for the cosmology, likening it unto a wheel. Tamriel has maps, and we have a general direction that is known for each of the other continents relative to Tamriel. There are several fan-made maps, but nothing that can be considered "canon". Although, what actually dictates "canon" in a world that is in a constant state of flux and can be changed at any time by a dragonbreak, or CHIM, or mundane apotheosis (I love oxymorons), or just a sudden urge of the devs to make everything smaller? I better shut up before I piss someone off.
