Well it is also a temporary fix, since Splash Damage did say that while this is in effect they will try to find a better solution in fixing the technical problems with the lag.
Yeah, a "configuration change".
Whether or not a permanent working development fix gets released or not, I'm not one to speculate. Just sticking with what has physically happened already.
With all the experiences that I have in online FPS gaming (like playing MAG for over a year), I really have no excuse for being too naive/gullible with developers of newly launched games.
I appreciate the free dlc, as well as the swift action in releasing this fix from the pipeline
(already coded and set before game was released, to be used should the need arise, which it did).
However, I expected there to be stability issues with this game from the moment I learned the scope of the character customizations. It's just that I thought that we'd get sacked with incredibly long load-up times for maps when joining matches or starting new battles. Instead, as most of us keen harcore FPS gamers have noticed, Brink is seemingly coded to load and play maps before all textures/elements/connections/blahblahblah are done loading and stabilized completely... or whatever have you... seemingly resulting in the severe lag and stability issues that many of use have been experiencing.
Not saying that they won't successfully fix this. Just saying that I know it won't be quick and, if they do it right, will take a good amount of money and manpower. How many times have you had a developer/publisher rep bring you back to reality with the term, "It's a business"??
You should never forget that.... ever... because it's true. This
IS a business for them.
I've never NEEDED a developer to say such a thing to me, as I've long been aware of this (nearly two decades?).
However, it didn't make hearing that term from the developers, of the last three main online FPS games I've played, any less sour.... (Homefront-Kaos, Killzone3-Guerilla, MAG-Zipper)
