Sheild view

Post » Mon May 16, 2011 9:03 am

Not a big deal but more of a just an annoyance is that in Oblivion if you had shield equipped in 3rd person view it was always out on your arm. Like when you put your sword away it didn't put your shield on your back or anything just stayed there on your arm. It always seemed odd to me you would think you would put it on your back to carry around not always on the arm. And when you ran in 3rd person with a shield it looked like the shield was just apart of the arm not like your holding it. Anyone else think you should put your shield on your back when you sheath your sword? Or what should happen to the shield?

Some are. Some arent. Some just have a handle.

Makes sense.

But truth be told, it's a lot of extra work for Bethesda for little positive gain, atleast IMO.
Plus, you're always prepared to block atleast .

It would be pretty awesome if there was a "back" slot which could hold any one of: a shield, quiver or cloak.

Most real shields have a strap that you strap to your arm, or slots you slide your arm through to hold.
But I agree, it looks stupid constantly being there on your arm, it should be slung over your back when not in use.

You strap a shield on your back for long walks, not when you are in danger of being eaten by a clannfear.

Maybe a setting that straps it to your back if you haven't drawn your weapon in a minute or something. It doesn't seem like a big deal. I like using 1st person most of the time anyway.

Agread they could have done a better job on the shields in oblivion. Why this new engine. I hoping alot of mistakes will be fixed.

I think I saw some concept art awhile ago where a character had his sword and shield on his back, much like Link in The Legend of Zelda

Here it is: Shield on Back. Just the way it should be, if you can equip and unequip your weapon you should be able to put your shield away, like the Mongols and Vikings did.

There was actually another piece of concept art that I'm thinking of. It was of a character standing on a cliff looking out at a city in the distance....I wish I could remember where I saw it, it might have been in one of those videos that was posted on gameinformer.

True, but this is something that doesn't bother me, but if it doesn't require much work, why not?
