I managed to get arena running in pure dos (7.10), but I don't get any fx sound (sword swinging, talking - I have cd version), all I get is music.

I have Genius Sound maker value 5.1 (cmi 8738 pci).

In autoexec.bat i have this

C:\PCIAUD\SETAUDIOSET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 H5 T4C:\PCIAUD\C3DMIX /MFF000 /FFF000 /WFF000 /L00100 /E00100 /A00100 /C00100 /P00000 /400000 /R0f0ff /D040ff /Q0

These settings are also in arena.bat

There is also the same problem with Raptor (music, no fx sound).

Does somebody know how to solve this ?

It may be an incompatibility with your card. Most users here run Arena and Daggerfall in DOSBox since they get true SB emulation. To be quite honest, I've never even heard of your soundcard before, and if it is a newer one, that's most-likely the problem.

Of course I tried dosbox first, but I have to slow cpu, to really enjoy the game.
Then I setup dos, but got this issue with sound card.
I guess, that problem IS sound card uncompatiblity with dos. When I tried with ISA cmi 8330, I get all sounds.

I would have a look on Ebay for a Sound blaster AWE64 gold or a Sound Blaster 16 ISA, these can be picked up for pennies and will work perfect with Arena. DOS games can have a lot of trouble seeing PCI sound cards... AFAIK, the only decent PCI cards for pure DOS are the Aureal cards and the first Sound Blaster live. But I could be wrong.

Probably you have set wrong parametres.
