The Buff awareness thread

Post » Wed May 11, 2011 3:00 pm

This.

When you spawn, spawn sprinting, and spawn buffing. When you get to the action, THEN you lay down your turret. Since there is no such thing as spawn camping in Brink, you can administer the buff to yourself as you are heading to the action. If you forgot and are almost in/already in battle, then hide and administer it!

BUT, if you have a gatling turret and are in the action...

Gatling Turret > Weapon Buff

How has the gatling turret been working for you? I have the same problem as everyone else. The enemies just walk rigth past my turret an it doesnt shoot at them.

how do you swap between buffs?

at the moment i only have health/revive buff for medic but want to add the speed one maybe. i want to make this character the supreme medic

how do i set which buff to issue out?

In the bottom left corner of your HUD you see your available abilities.I costumize them to keys 1,2 or 3.So if i remember by default keys 1 and 2 are for swaping waepons but i change them to my abilities as i swap weapons through mouse wheel.

So when i press key 1 i have the Metabolism ability & when i press 2 i have the Adrenaline ability.Thats all.

Buffs are active abilities - they go on the d-pad. Press the button, and it swaps your normal buff option for the special buff.

Don't recommend teh speed buff though - Adrenaline would be a better option. A very short-term speed boost isn't really worth a full pip of supplies.

im on pc. how do i do it?

Check the control layout to find out how you select active abilities.

Pressing the appropriate button to select the ability highlights it, and makes the alternative buff apply instead of the normal one.

imo, if you think something is over/under powered, then you just have not played the right defense/offense yet. i have been all over this game since release, and it seems very well balance, given the right scenario's and the right minds to think outside the box in every situation, not just run in the front door over and over wondering why you keep dying

Operatives have one buff, actually, just it isn't used on team mates. Firewall, makes it take longer for enemies to steal command posts. They also have a kind of buff that's good for playing defense. Remote turret. Stick a remote box on the turret, grab some good cover, use turret to kill baddies more effectively than an automatic turret.

You also forgot the Engineer's Command Upgrade buff, it makes it so that Command Post give two times the bonus. Nothing cooler than running around with two health post pips, two health boost pips, and battle harden (that's almost twice the starting life).

This ^

Question is, can you stack the Firewall and Command Upgrade Buff? if so, that would be an very effective combo that would benefit the whole team map wide.

I believe you can. I take it you're thinking about specing your operative with Firewall and your Engineer with Upgrade so you can try to do both. It would probably very effective.

The trick is placement. Turrets take a little time to lock onto a target and start shooting. You never want to set them up in short spaces facing an enemy front. Otherwise yeah they just run right past and destroy it. If you're in a short space that doesn't give the gun a lot of time to lock on one trick is to put it behind a corner facing into the defended area. It makes it harder to run around and gives it time to lock on while the enemy has their back to it.
