What Would Improve BRINK?

I think BRINK is great- maybe one of the best games i played in a long time;

BUT, There are some things that could be improved that would make this one of the best games of all time. ONE OF THE BEST GAMES OF ALL TIME!!!

I thought this thread could be a place where players put down COHERENT thought on ways of improving the game.

Here are some of my thoughts based on the PS3 version, ignoring network issues atm,
I'm not sure what can or can't be patched or made available via dlc;

1. Character Customization
BRINK's character customization is good, but could be improved. MORE is the word.
More face archetypes/deeper customization.
More tattoos, and more control over tattoo location.
Could do with more clothes, and more customization on the clothes. Atm when you change color on clothes, the design changes as well. Separate the color and design parameters!
maybe add separate accessories, but not essential by any means.

2. Weapons
Perhaps more weapons, but definitely, MORE VARIETY! Seems like the only guns with any real use are SMG!
Increase handgun melee damage?
Maybe increase overall handgun damage to create a reason to use them. When any medium guy can equip an SMG as a secondary, they completely overshadow the handgun.
Possibly- More attachments?

In order of importance

1) performance fixes. (and hurry!)
2) SDK please. (or at very least a map editor)
3) Bigger more open maps. Take a cue from Crysis 2 on this...HAving maps like some of the locations there woudl be amazing. Not to mention would allow players to REALLY utilize the parkour elements to thier fullest.
4) More customization options. The above poster beat me to it so I'll just point you to his suggestions on that topic ^SEE ABOVE^

i felt like i was on a minecart.... i cld only jump over things THEY wanted me to jump over. i do like the sliding tho. nice job. but they only have and handful of places u can jump over in each map. is having close to no health worth that one advantage? i think not.

A level editor would be a source of endless map content; keeping the gameplay fresh. All SD have to do is fix the Lag, and work on customization DLC for those whiners out there, and also lobbies. Then we are set.

i find meleeing (not sliding) difficult, and it doesn't do much damage. Im not thinking of the COD instakill, but maybe more damage?
would there be a way to improve the melee attacks? Killzone 3 style? Different Builds have different strength?style melee attacks?

+fix turret issues. the turrets seem to be extremely temperamental when it comes to shooting enemies, including those 4 yards in front of them.

What are peoples thoughts on the damage model? should they make it more or less shots to kill someone?

it has problems, but overall BRINK IS GOOD!

I actually enjoy this game in co- op mode but I truly bought it for the vs mode. Please just fix the lag guys.

PLEASE BETHESDA/SPLASH DAMAGE, listen to the people!
some parts of the game feel a little untidy, so I think the best way to make this game is a steady stream of DLC and patches (not at 3 month intervals)

preferably free, savvy?

I would like to see a few additions to the game myself, some have been mentiond already but im going to post them here anyway.

First, a menu option or pregame lobby that will alow me to get my friends in a group instead of having to hope there is room in a match after i join. It gets a little annoying when you keep connecting to the same match that doesnt have room for me + 1 or 2 friends.
Also, i havent found a way to customize a game type so that it excludes bots. It would be great to have the option to play only aginst real players.

Abilities could be handled a little differently. For a game that is based on team work it seems kind of odd to limit players to 1 or 2 classes per character. If you put points into the general tree (which almost seems mandatory for atleast 3 abilities) it really only leaves you with enough points to make 2 classes competitive at lvl 20. Yes I understand that you have all the core skills needed for a class but if your prefered classes are medic and engineer who really wants to play a solider or operative that only has 1-2 abilities (if that). I see alot of matches where the objectives arent getting done and im on a character that doesnt have points into the class that needs to do the objective. My only suggestion would be to allow a certain number of points to be spent in each rank instead of having a set amount of points for everything.

It would also be nice to have more matches with several objectives to increase match length, and more matches that have multiple objectives for all 3 classes ( medics excluded because they dont have interactive abilities like the other 3 classes ). This would also allow the maps to be opened up to their fullest for the entirety of the match rather than having everyone congregate around small sections of a map while one main objective is in progress. You could also create match types that arent completely offensive or defensive. For example you could add a match that requires both sides to retrieve an intel package and carry it to a specific location on their side of the map. Have doors and ramps that could be opend/close construced/destroyed to help your team or hinder the other team and add a count to the number of captures per match instead of a one time completion. (basicly just a Brink style capture the flag).

Last, (someone has already made a thread) operatives need love. Alot of matches dont have a need for operatives at all. Hack points are rare in the game and need to be added in even if they are only secondary objectives. Operatives could also use a buff The ability to cause enemies to show up on radar doesnt make up for their lack of a buff, it is a team based game afterall and buffs are a big part of it, not to mention the fact that lvling as an operative is way too slow because they dont have a buff. I read a comment about melee damage being too low considering how difficult it can be to actualy melee someone. Perhaps operatives could buff melee and slide damage a little, this would also make the light class more appealing to people that dont like the pistols and make disguise a little more fun :D. As it stands right now operative seems more like a lone wolf class in a game that isnt very friendly to lone wolves, they dont really need buffed just fine tuned to make them more group friendly and to bring them up to par in terms of lvling speed for anyone who wants to lvl as an operative.

I have other minor suggestions but they have mostly been mentioned and these are the major things that i think would make the game better for alot of players that want to enjoy brink long term.

I think the damage models are fine unless you are facing the super bots that insta kill you with head shots from across the map with smg's

Changes to AI.
Enemy AI get really smart in the last minute of a match while friendly AI get really stupid in the last minute of the match.
AI reaction time and accuracy needs changes. They spin 180 and kill you instantly.

Performance needs improvements.
Need bigger maps.
More maps.

FOR PC

1. Improve performance (ATI users) and dedicated servers still have a lot of problems

2. More maps couldn't hurt


Minor gripes

1. The adrenaline boost's gold outline needs to be replaced by a plasma aura or something because seeing yellow outlines through walls does not really help identify who I am looking at...red should always be used for enemies; yellow is an objective/neutral color.

2. Like the adrenaline boost, characters light up in gold when they are carrying packages (enemy and friendly alike) and I always hesitate to shoot because the yellow outline can mean anything.

3. When someone runs low/out of ammo and their character screams it over the radio, it would be nice to have a flashing icon over their head (something similar to the revive icon) so that we know who is actually calling for ammo

4. VOIP functionality? I haven't been able to get it to work, so I'm guessing this is server side or it's broken. Whatever the case may be I am hoping that there is some kind of notification on the HUD that lets us know who is talking. Having to hit TAB to see who is using their mic is going to be a hassle.

5. At the end of a round the global chat box should be the main page, not the XP. Knowing how much XP you got is nice, but the chat function is completely worthless right now because no one knows it's there or they don't use it because they don't think anyone is looking at it. Also, having your XP earnings right in your face at the end of a round promotes leaving the game to tweak your character's gear...kind of lame IMO.

6. is there a "reconnect" console command?

7. In my experience sticky bombs are kind of hard to spot on friendlies...maybe scale up the particles a little to make them more visible?

Is it just me.. or does this game get really boring after you beat it?? I played an beat the whole thing before the psn got back up. An I was all excited thinkin thered be something new to do.. but no. It's just the same [censored] I've already done just now with a bunch a random retardos. 1. fix lag i know its been said before but still you cant realease a game with that short of a story promise and amazing multiplayer then have that much lag even when the host has good internet.
2. fix the freezing ( mines only froze my xbox 3 times)
3. make it to where the shotgun isnt over powered by a handgun
4. mini gun and mgs need more dmg ( me and my friend both had engineer upgraded buff he used carb 9 i used mini gun and the chinazor mg. i lost the fight when neighter of us moved and i shot first -.-)
5. more colthes and definently more color customs (i want black and orange on everything but can only get and like a jacket.
6. More weapons ( there are like 2 smgs good and like 2-3 ARs and most the mgs suk.
7. At least one map wih he freedom of movement. its been said before you can only jump over what they want you to. but light and medium hp isnt that much to me so dosnt affect me that much.
8. more maps the campaing maps and objectives get old when you play them 8000 times.
9. Maybe thrown in a TDM and DM . i know its a objective based game but that would be a amazing TDM with this movement.
10. More attachments. All red dots and muzzles do he same speen sling does nothing neither does grip.
11. An interacive map. that would be fun.
12. More character customizations for like face, hair, tattos, scars
13. Some beast cloths for getting 100% acheivments (felt like i got the all for nothing cause gamerscores dosnt do anything)
14. Increased level cap ( you dont really need skill points but that would be okay cause with 20 you can get 5 good universla and almost max 2 classes
15. something to work for cause the challenges are to easy and you get everything from them,
16. wall run for light?

i think i typed to much. but there are some more things that would make this better ( extended campaing with the start of the revolution not just the attack -.-
