Blocking Mechanics...

Post » Tue May 10, 2011 1:00 pm

Greetings all! Has anyone heard about how blocking will work while weilding a weapon in one hand and a spell in the other, dual weilding, or when weilding a single one handed weapon or if they even plan to include this? I have read about blocking with shields and two handers but I either missed the part about other weapon configurations or the sources I read were silent on the matter.

The current speculation (no hard evidence) is that the "Spellsword" setup does not not allow for blocking, and that whilst dual-wielding pressing both attack buttons simultaneously initiates the block. Again, there's nothing concrete at the moment.

Wait and see, all I can say and the best bet of getting solid information about this.

Well there is obviously no cast button now, I reckon that will be block.
Not letting a one handed fighter block is insane.

But we need that cast button for Dragon shouts. Having to activate both hands at exactly the same time might be a better block/parry method.

I'm assuming that they've gotten rid of the Block button (to block with Twohanded, you press button 2. To block with a shield, well, that's rather self-explanatory) and assigned that to dragon shouts.

Crap, never thought of that. Maybe yeah, both at ounce would work better....

The block button as in second mouse button/ left trigger? Surely that will be "use left hand"?

God, I hope that turns out to be just a blunder in the mag article.

Isn't it more logical that cast button is now used for dragon shouts and that that block button is used for right hand?
Also, I hope that I can decide in witch hand I will equip my dai katana since I wish to carry it in left hand (I'm ambidextrous, but I would still prefer to equip it to left hand instead of right) and use right hand button for blocking.

If your a spellsword and and want to defend your self just use a shield spell and try to dodge the attacks, (although if they brought sanctuary back it'd be even better).
