I'm with Oblivion soundtrack on this one. Great slow songs that you can daydream to.

Eh, I'm torn. The usage of vocals is high quality, and the guitar works are nearly flawless. The arrangement properly builds itself up and is well done.
But the qualities of the various synth/brass samples... :P Maybe I'm just too nitpicky for my own good, but the samples weren't that great and there are higher quality ones for free on teh internets.

It made me want to listen to it again, though, which is always a very good sign.

I prefer Oblivion's theme, I just wish it were longer.

I think it would be great if the two themes were combined. I think it makes perfect sense that the Morrowind then Oblivion themes could've be the same song.

I vote morrowind.
of course in my morrowind I have stuff from tamriel rebuild and silgrad tower, I say silgrad_st are up there with the rest of them, really beautiful tune, but tamriel rebuild stuff are very very good too,so I use them all :)

oblivion?s aren?t to shabby but get very tiresome after a while, where I can actually listen to morrowind+tr+st as long as it takes.

I vote Morrowind too. I dug how Jeremy Soule reworked the theme for Oblivion, it works really well, but the Morrowind version is more evocative for me.

I imagine that most, like me, found Oblivion's main theme to be too reaching at epic, to be too thick with heavy brass and too preoccupied with building mass crescendo and melodical/precussional tension where none really needed to be built (ironically mirroring the game it's a theme of). Whereas Morrowind's theme was a lot slower in pace, a lot more soothing without the false sense of epic and the massive crescendos and overpowering brass.

In fact, to demonstrate a lack of bias, when I first heard Nerevar Rising Reprise as a placeholder for the Oblivion theme in the E3 demo videos, I had never heard the reprise before, had no idea it was actually tied with Morrowind, and I legitimately thought it was the Oblivion theme they had chosen. And I fell in love with it instantly, and despite my believing it was part of Oblivion, I would have praised it as the best to this day. Of course, it wasn't until later that I learned that the Reprise was part of the Morrowind sound track and that all the reasons I had liked it (its gentle flow, building in intensity only briefly and just at the right moments, the gentle nature of the overall track, etc) all fit in with the rest of the musical composition choices for the Morrowind soundtrack.

I pretty much agree with all of the things you just said. I played Morrowind when it first came out and I was about 13 or 14 and I just got lost in the game, the music added so much atmosphere to the game s whenever I hear the starting drums to the Morrowind theme it just takes me back to that feeling of exploring and forgetting everything real just to live in Morrowind for a couple of hours.

My favorite overall soundtrack is Daggerfall's, but I don't remember it having a specific theme song. I like the one from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYltef5VTyQ.

Now, when we're talking Oblivion's version of Nerevar Rising, do we mean http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPEEp5R_pOo I do love that arrangement, it's beautiful, but... I think I'll have to say the Morrowind theme is my favorite, by sheer value of nostalgia.

I've never heard that version before. I really like the original but I have to admit, that version you linked to is certainly beautiful.
