DirectX 11 in Skyrim is in/out? : V - Skyrim

If you can't spend 100 if that on a W7 after 10 years i think you need to rethink what and where you spend your money... the economy is bad and all but I am able to buy save for a new rig on unemployment...

You're exactly right, I do have to watch where I spend my money. here's a hint, it's not on an OS upgrade I really don't need right now. I have two daughters that are growing like weeds that needs new clothes every year, and realistically, more like every 6 months. Not to mention all the other costs two children entail. I will barely have money to spend on Skyrim when it comes out, it's just because it's going to be 17 days before my birthday that I"ll be able to justify the money spent on it. Otherwise i'd be waiting for it to come down in price, or for the GoTY with whatever DLC. Being an advlt means you have to prioritize things, and computer stuff falls at the bottom of the list.

Great poll. Lots of options that make sense.

I think the Dx11 guys are over represented. According to the steam survey only 5.6% have Dx11 GPU + win7 and ~16% have Dx10/11 + win xp. I think the poll is a little skewed at this point.

Nevertheless, I have a 4870 and it still chugs along quite well. I am going to completely upgrade my PC later this year so I will be part of the Dx11 minority.

I think Skyrim could be much greater if it used Dx11. Elderscrolls games always push the technology and I would love to see this game use new tech. I am a little pessimistic though. I don't think we will have many bells and whistles but I have been wrong before!

I'm not expected to see so many people with GPU support DirectX 11 too, but somehow this fact begins to make sense to me, since many of the GPU's in the market comes with directX 11 support already and i think there are people who switched their GPU in these last 3-4 months (since Xmas).

Whether I'd want to really depends on how much of a hit DX11 features have on the performance of the game overall. If I'm able to get a computer before Skyrim launches I will get the GTX 460 or (if the price drops) GTX 560 Ti or AMD equivalent. If DX11 is enough of a hit to affect performance negatively on those cards I wouldn't use it. I'll probably be playing Skyrim with a GTS 450 though, which though it supports DX11 I don't know if it could do so without chugging.

I don't have a dx11 card yet, but I'd definitely buy one to play Skyrim at max potential. I think I'm going to buy one anyway, there are plenty of interesting upcoming games.

First off all, thank you all for your votes and comments. :tops:

And the winner is...NVIDIA !!!... :trophy: :celebration: With 86 GPU's [76+(2x5)] followed by AMD/ATI with 85 GPU's [67+(2x9)], just ONE GPU less... :banghead: I'm just kidding! :evil:

Some of the results leave no doubt, the vast majority of those who voted would like to play Skyrim with directX 11 and believe that the game will be better that way, so let's hope that BGS find a good way to incorporate this technology in Skyrim, i believe it will be possible, let's wait and see...

One final personal note for those who will buy a new GPU with DirectX 11 (30 votes -- 17.34%), regardless of Skyrim support DirectX 11 or not. Good for you! :thumbsup:
It's possible to buy a great GPU with directX 11 support without spending tons of money and if you allow me, please, give you some advice, choose well and careful, see many benchmarks, reviews and prices from store/site to store/site.
