In The Brink of an Eye

Everywhere I go I can't get the game out of my mind. I find myself watching movies and thinking just parkour over that fence and kill the guy. Despite some of the obvious flaws, it shows that Splash Damage definitely has the ability to make a future game that could easily become AAA. They just have to get ignore the negative reviews, listen to there fans, and work hard on the next game. You can't make a perfect game without making one that will point out the flaws and successes first. They just need to focus on innovating new things, but not destroying already established ideas that work great. And don't force your personal views on to everybody. Just because you think Death-match teaches players to work for themselves and isn't newb friendly doesn't mean everyone thinks that. Personally I think this game is less noob friendly in the fact that in an objective game the objective is always location based. Whether you need to escort a bot or blow up a door, the opposing team can find that objectives area and lock down that part of the map making you have to run in and die over and over. In a team death-match game, if you keep dying somewhere you can just try going somewhere else.

" ignore the negative reviews, listen to there fans,"

Except the negative reviews are also from their fans. Albiet not all, but a lot. I have been rather critical of the game, citing sever things that I feel are flaws or issues, but I respect the game, I respect Splash Damage, but circle jerking is not the way to get things done.

I don't mean ignore the advice, I just mean don't let it get to you and make you quit. Some of the reviews you could tell the review hardly even played the game. Some however were very accurate, I've seen a number of flaws with the game and if I were reviewing it theres no way in hell I would be able to give it anything over an 8. But the gameplay itself is so addicting it doesn't matter.

As you said, this game isnt noob friendly.

And far more games have been overhyped and actually just horrible (exclude the single player) *cough COD cough*

Im happy this game got medi-ocre score from reviewers, it help keeping MOST of the cod/halo/bfbc noobs away. As i dont really want to deal with them.

but this game DOES deserve more credit than given.

One thing that bothers me thou is that people bashing this game without playing it propertly! spending some time. reach at least lvl 20 before starting to QQ over stuff.

Agree completely. If the online does get fixed (360) I can see myself really digging into this game.

I ditched the 360 copy and got a PC copy, it is ALOT better.. of all the problems this game is suffering.. the 360 version is suffering them the worst of all, I can't believe it got released on that console :(

Otherwise.. i'm having a blast with this game, once you get into a good server with some friends at your back.. the game comes alive and is damn good :)

my only advice is dodge the 360 copy.. it is a sad, sad thing indeed :(

Congrats, you're developing runner-vision*. Join the club.

* "Runner Vision" is a term created by the game Mirror's Edge, and picked up by the Parkour community. It's used to describe the effect where someone who gets used to freedom of movement starts seeing more opportunities for it in places they previously never realised such possibilities. In Mirror's Edge it was simulated by marking interactive objects in red.

You do know that Splash Damage are not new to the scene right? And that Brink _is_ a AAA title already?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Splash_Damage
SD's games have always been awesome (IMO) and Quake Wars was a full AAA title too. This is just SD's first game with their own IP and I like what they've done.
TBH the only issue Splash damage has really had with this release has been with the consoles. This (I think) is the part that they need to learn the most from and will hopefully, in the future, be releasing more smoothly across multiple platforms.

The only arguments against calling Brink AAA basically boil down to AAA being a marketing term with a very vague definition.
