To use/not use OBMM with Elsweyr expansion

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 1:35 pm

Hi im new to this & downloaded the http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=25023 recommended in the http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1306005 and stuck at the point on best method of installation. The description at tesnexus says to extract them directly to the oblivion>Data folder, but instruction comments for the http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=25150 addon suggest converting it to OMOD, which Id have thought was the smart thing with the main Elseyr files. Anyway for now ill install the two main files as suggested and create an OMOD of the map file, and see if it works, but feel it might need a redo, if the BOSS cant reorder it properly, so asking ahead of time if all of it shouldve been installed as OMODs.

Also if youve installed this, what of the optional files did you add : ElsweyrLandscapeLOD / ElsweyrNoSpidersPatch / ElsweyrOptionalFiles / ElsweyrQuestWalkthroughs / ElsweyrRobertsFemaleReplacer / ElsweyrRobertsMaleReplacer

cheers

If you are confident you can install manually, you don't need to use OMODs.

I make omod's of all my mods. Makes them easier to deal with. I haven't installed Elsweyr Anequina yet, but I'd be inclined to so the same for them.

In terms of the optional files, it depends on what other mods you are running. Those optional files make EA compatible with the other mods. So if you are using Robert's, grab the optional files for Robert's... I would definitely grab the Landscape LOD.

Oh, when did that mod get taken off private? I think it was hidden for months.

might not be necessary, extracting to Data folder was really all it needed. The real problem is the map addon doesnt seem to work, & when you see it, its pretty fail; even converting it and the other cyrodil world map to omod leaves all the markersoff course, and the colours arent that good

Finally installed BetterCities, damn theyre good; Bethesda couldnt have hoped for better

Btw, getting off topic, im edging slightly closer my laptops peformance limits after BC and the other texture mods, and really wan to add some game play mods soon, but the beautifying oblivion thread suggests getting the Quarls Texture pack: id like to see it but wouldnt there be more useful alternative for a better looking game, like I heard of a NPC faces mod that makes them attractive. Oblivions addictive enough, you let it go first few times but not forever. Does anyone know these mods or recommend Quarls anyway?
