Do you think setting up camps and building bridges should be

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 11:05 am

I think it would be great if you're on an adventure and it's starting to darken, the way back to the village/city is long and you decide to build a camp to have a shelter and keep predators away with a fire.

Discuss.

Bridges? No, I don't see any use.

Now CAMPS, that's a great idea. I'd love it if I could go out and build fires and place tents and bedrolls, or maybe even carry sacks and chests around to take them to my camp.
And given that it's TES, I should be able to plop as many tents and bedrolls and chests and campfires around my camp as I wish.

This being Tes, I wouldn't be surprised. Using physics and the environment to improvise your way around obstacles would be great (I'm saying this with Half Life 2 in mind).

I'm unsure about the bridges, but I can see setting up camps being a good idea.

why build a bridge and waist time and fatigue when you could go over the river anyways(you could even use waterwalk if you dont want to swim)

not only do i want a camp i can take with me but that bandits can move their camps too
i hated how bandits would always stay in the same spot so i could just kill them again

Camps, sure, "but not too big"- it's a campsite for a lone adventurer, not a trading outpost/village.

Bridges- uh, what the [censored]?

There'll be a camp mod for PC :intergalactic:

I hope... there was in Oblivion anyways, got tons of use out of that. I even put down a bedroll in an abandoned house in the Waterfront and lived there for a while!

I agree that setting up camp anywhere (RDR did it in a very simple yet effective way for example). About building bridges, I think pushing a log till you make a bridge is OK however I don't really need being able to create an actual bridge, I have Minecraft for that (and much more :P)

Would be nice the Camp Part... for the bridge not so sure, as many have stated, you can swim... however, if possible there could be some sort of "breakable trees" like getting old and stuff, that with a really powerfull speell (push or something) it breaks down and makes the bridge in some scripted way or something.... for the camp i think it would be nice, RDR did it, didnt like it too much how they manage it but it fitted the needs, if implemented in TES i would like to make it by my self... like putting the tent nails and stuff me, and if im not wrong i belive i read somewere that farming is included, i think, if so perhaps woodcutting is too so we could make fires from it.... (Once again not sure if those 2 are in but i think i read somewere)

Bridges sound cool but unnecessary.

I'd love to have my backpack on with a tent and bedroll. Would love to chop some wood, gather dried leaves and kindling and start a fire, either with a fire-based spell or good ol' flint & steel, stone and dagger or whatever. I'd also like for the wood to burn out so that you can keep a wood pile nearby and have to add wood to the fire every once in a while. Would also like to be able to hunt (deer, bear, etc.) and roast meat over the fire on a skillet. Would give more meaning to picking up certain inventory items that in past games didn't actually have any function other than aesthetics.

Even if it's just very basic, definite YES to setting up camp.

YES for camps. That is a great idea and I hope it is implemented. It would especially come in handy if there were a "hardcoe" mode similar to that of FO:NV.

Bridges...... what do you need to build a bridge for? I mean, sure you may need one to get across a raging river, or over a gap in two mountains, but you could also just find another way around.

Yes to camps but not too big and no to bridges unless it fits the story or a quest.

Yes to camps. I believe there were some mods for Oblivion that accomplished this.

Bridges: Meh. I put yes just because it could be interesting to chop down a tree to make a makeshift bridge to cross a ravine or something. Permanent bridges though, nah.

What exactly was your reasoning behind building bridges? I love the camp idea...but building bridges seems a little ridiculous.
