Question to all 3 plattform user

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 8:10 am

Hi Gaming Friends.

I am shure that many of you guys are harried about how the gaming industrie treat us.
I am 32 Years old and play Games on the PC since 1995.
In the old Days the games were developed for fun, from gamers for gamers.
But today the lies and scams get out of hand.

I dont want to say that Brink fooled us with fake content like the ridiculous TwoWorlds2 or Kayne&Lynch2 (and there are many more examples, DA2 90% on GT.com...thats just a joke).

But they fooled us with the level of performance and tricked us with faked reviews.
Beside the fact that the game is full of bugs and performance problems.

What about the 3 Gamemodes? SinglePlayer, Coop and Multiplayer. All 3 are exact the same. There is no difference at all.
Now i read in this forum that all 3 plattforms have more or less the same problems.

Why do i write this?

Because its time to wake up. Not just PC Gamer...Console Players as well!!

Dont you see that the gamingindustrie tricked us the last years over and over again. And it will become more and more. Half half-done Games. Expensive DLC′s with content ,cut out of the original game. Performance lies and much much more. Gametrailers.com and other do there part to fool us.

Now my Question to all of you is: Arent you sick of this kind of treatment?

Dont preorder any Games in the Future, dont buy [censored] DLC′s for ridiculous prices. Dont trust any re-or previews. You CAN NOT trust them. They only want our money and i am sick of it.

Regards
Shinizm

P.S. Im not english so please overlook if something is ungrammatical :)

On PS3, the game works (for me as well as most I've spoken to) pretty much exactly as advertised.

They scaled the AI back in an annoying way (and have confirmed this was deliberate with an explanation for why, but also that it can be reversed easily - just waiting on them actually DOING SO), but I personally consider it a great game.

I've only heard of a couple of PS3 players with legitimate complaints (rather than the usual "it's not what most FPS games are" or "this gun is too powerful because other people kill me with it" or "this class is underpowered because I svck at using them"), and that's the only person I've heard of with graphics issues on PS3, and someone with issues which could just as easily be due to the console overheating.

A LOT of PC players are also having no trouble at all with the game - I won't say it's perfect, or even great, but the issues aren't totally destroying everyone's experience. And they are working on patching the problems, so be patient - you'd think PC gamers would know by now that it's impossible to release a totally bug-free game.

1995 - The old days? Son, you're a baby when it comes to gaming.

Also: Completely disagree with everything you're saying. It svcks that you have one of the ATI cards that has an issue with the game at the moment but really, crying and screaming is not a mature way of dealing with things.

Tricking you and faking reviews? Please! All the information they gave before releasing the game said exactly what the game was going to be. If you got caught up in advertising hype and are now dissapointed that's completely your fault.
There has been no advertising for this game that does not work like advertising for any other game ever. In fact there were more videos explaining what to expect for this game than I have seen for any other and if you'd watched all of the gameplay and "Getting SMART" videos then you'd know exactly what to expect from Brink.

If you can find 1 lie about Brink that was published from an official source prior to release then link it. Please. I'd love to see it.

I agree that you can't trust reviews and previews from certain places much nowadays *cough* IGN *cough* but if you use your common sense and do some research before spending your money you'll get dissapointed a lot less.

Trying to blame Brink because you don't purchase well is kinda petty and spiteful.

I don't feel tricked by this game. I researched as much as I could about it before I bought it, then got basically everything I was expecting. If you looked into it before buying it, you would have known the 3 modes were the same. It wasn't hidden information, you just didn't look.

Oh yeah and the expensive DLC comment, the first one is free so, yeah....

If you've been gaming on pc's since 1995 you've been a part of the recent gaming industry progression (at least for the last almost 10 years). You remember.. that progression that had super linear, single player experiences, where if there was a glitch or exploit, that was exactly what it was and would never be fixed (wait.. that might have been the '80's - either way). And of course, the emergence of on-line games to the more current model which means that virtually every single game that is released has some type of patch within the first 30 days.

As for all the same problems across platforms. I would say that you're completely wrong, unless you're referring to some type of game mechanics. ie) turret tracking for engineers

PC definitely does not have the problems that seem to be plaguing Xbox users (sorry folks). And to be fair, the reviews for this game were pretty honest and straight forward. If anything, I would encourage you in the future to not purchase games at release, but wait awhile and do some more homework.

I appreciate your call to arms against the evil and oppressive Gaming Industry that is out to just make money, but then again.. the last time I checked, they aren't non-profits.

I play on the 360 and PC (games that my hardware will allow me to play anyway). I see what you're saying, but I'm not really convinced that Splash is just out to take our money. I really think they care about the game. They've proven that they're making efforts to fix the bugs. And to show their appreciation (more like an apology for a release with so many issues) they are giving us Free DLC in June. So while I understand your complaint and a valid one as more and more games are coming out broken or half-a**, I do believe the Splash cares what we think and are doing what they can to make Brink better. Just my opinion. Maybe they don't give a $#it....I dunno, but from everything I'm reading, sounds like they care about this game and want to make it better.

A company that pissed me off was Valve when they released TF2 for the 360 (Yes I know PC gamers...Laugh..scoff). Valve promised tons of content, DLC updates, new maps, new modes, etc. Nothing. They released 4-6 maps at the most...some of which were only playable in specific game modes....got so old, so fast and valve never delivered on their promise.

What? Publishers want my money for evil profits? Damn! Next you'll be telling me that I pay too much for my music.
That Sony sure is a nice charity though. I wonder how many orphans they feed to endangered animals to save the rainforest from aliens every year?

Srsly though: You make very good points about the emergence of the internet era of gaming. It's becoming easier and easier to patch and certain people demand that games come out at a faster pace and then complain that they shouldn't have released it so soon and are unwilling to wait for a patch.

If you get upset by patches do not buy games withing the first couple of months of release. If you get upset by DLC then don't buy any. If noone buys DLC companies will stop thinking it's a good idea. Of course I think that you'll be out of luck because the rest of the world is OK with DLCs.

Ah yes. Attack the person because your argument doesn't hold water.
Where do you get off with the "people like you" remark? You don't even know me. Just because I disagree with you?

If you're upset about me saying "1995 - The old days? Son, you're a baby when it comes to gaming." Then learn to take a joke. Also learn to not try and argue from perceived authority. Just because you've been playing games for a long time makes your opinion right? Sorry, but people who've been playing for longer than you and for less time than you both disagree with your argument.

People that can't put together a coherent and cogent argument and then say thinks like "People like you" really should learn what a discussion is.

I do like the way you have countered exactly zero of the points that I brought up.

this game is almost exactly what i thought it would be. and better in some places.

im well happy with my £25 purchase. so much so ive treated myself to a new gfx card (and its an ATI but im confident i can get it working fine)

£25 is nothing really. its a few beers. i will easily get value for money. in fact ive almost had my moneys worth already! :)

btw - this coming from a gamer who is 36 and has been playing since the atari/bbc model b in circa 1980

Ok its official, your a real dh... this guy has a valid point and you shut him down just like my thread with the flip and roll stuff that was in the original CG trailer... but not in the actual game.

So help me if BRINK 2 has a roll or a wall flip, i just goes to show what this guy is saying, game developers use marketing strategies to milk as much money out of titles by excluding content for download at a later date.

Zenstar, how far have you got yourself inserted in the Dev-teams rear?

If i didn't know any better i'd say you have a diploma in save face, I'm assuming the dev team pay you really well to defend their f'ups... or am I miss reading this? your just an ignorant twit who studies developer diaries as a hobby, just so you can become the great and powerful oz on the forums???

LMFAO!

I'm afraid I don't believe the guy has a valid point and I put forth an argument against his claims. At no point has that argument been countered yet. This is called a discussion: people go back and forth trying to put forward their point and people put forward why they agree or disagree.
At no point should there be namecalling like calling someone a "dh" or an "ignorant twit". That is not only uncivil but shows that you cannot hold a proper discussion.
Also attacking the person themselves instead of countering the argument is immature and indicates that you probably don't have a strong argument.
Just for reference: I am actually a developer with a BSc majoring in computer science. I sometimes follow developer diaries as a hobby because that is what I do: I cut code proffessionally for a living and understand the lifecycle of a project. For full transparency: I do not work in the games industry. I develop business applications. Nor do I have any connection with SD other than being a customer / player of their games.
I find your namecalling and personal attacks fairly immature actually. If this is how you react when someone disagrees with you then perhaps you should relax a little bit.
