The game sort of highlights the problem with any bi-partisan existance, the people in control are more concerned about the control than the people.

I side with the people of the Ark, not the Resistance or the Security forces. I'm fighting to free the Ark from oppression and save it from destruction.

Alot of you guys are almost portraying Chen as evil.

In his audio logs it's clear that he cares about the guest. Yes, he was paranoid but when the things your proposing is unpopular you have to be a little paranoid. And yeah, he arrogant but...well...I agree with him. You have to have a big ego to achieve big goals.



I've got a an honest question, it doesn't have anything to do with what I just wrote:

If the founders let everyone know what a state the outside world was in and Chen let everyone know the arkoral was dying, what would happen?

I would assume that they would first attempt to cultivate a strain of still fertile Arkoral, or create some other solution. Failing that, the founders would be forced to find a way to get onto land, though they would probably try to aim for uninhabited land at first to avoid the "savages". Even land that couldn't support life would work since they would still have their technology, they just need some foundation that wont sink into the sea.

This is assuming that the two sides were actually willing to trust each other at this point. They would both try to claim that the other was lying to make their plan seem better. Telling the truth should have been done much earlier.

About Chen, i dont find him to be evil, just misguided. My main issue with his paranoia is that it casts doubt on anything the man says. Chen is easy to agree with if you take everything he says as fact, but the players are given no proof that the founders are actually the people he portrays them as.

Do you really think its possible to have a pampered class at the top in this scenario? The refugees are taking care of the maintenance work, sure. But that's because maintenance tasks are easy to teach the uneducated. Its much easier to teach someone how to do something than why to do something, and there is a lot of maintenance that needs to be done when all systems are running at over 400% capacity for decades.

At the same time, the founders were some of the best scientists, engineers, and doctors in the world before it went to hell. Do you really think all of these super-skilled people are doing nothing? We even have some evidence to the contrary, the founder in the audio logs mentions working in the clinic. There's reason to suspect that all of the doctors and engineers on the Ark are founders. They are treated better, but its no resort, everyone is working to keep the place afloat.

I'm not claiming that the situation is fair by any means, the cause the resistance fight for is clearly just. The means they do it by are clearly not.

I side with the Security, because honestly they are doing the logical choice. Maintain order. Ration supply's to try and keep the ark afloat for as long as possible. When in all entirety the Guests were the ones who came there and forced the economical problems for the ark, and are ungrateful for what they have gotten. Which isn't much, but probably far better then what has been happening on mainland. Not to mention they don't really know how to conserve water too well, or at least they didn't prior to arriving according to a audio log.

Security are simply trying to keep things under control, but the Resistance are homicidal idiots who when being refused stupid request. [Disarming Security and allowing total control of the ark to a extremist leader] Decide that the only rational thing is to blow things up, usually important things. Or to kill a hostage that the Security is trying to escort out under their own fire.

The Resistance are terrorist, plain and simple. They try to justify what they are doing to themselves, but don't seem to realize is all that they are doing is making things worse.
