The video was reassuring to say the least.

I didn't like the video. It's repeating only a little of the information many of us know, with speculation and opinions weaved in that don't particularly suggest a good understanding of the changes. And it's a little hard to take seriously with the dramatic movie trailer voice...

Thanks for the link though!

I think people are failing to realize that this video is not about new info instead its a simple easy overview of what we know that can be used to educate new people on the forums.

^This.

It's a quick recap of several prominent features that have been confirmed so far. It's not something for those who already know about the new features for Skyrim, but rather the opposite, as in those who are new to the forums and possibly new to TES in general. Combined with a list of commonly used thread topics, it could prove to limit the number of topics discussing the same idea. I'm hoping he continues to make videos every so often so some can "catch up" to what has been confirmed at that point.

Basically my exact sentiments. I felt patronized while watching it.

Its a bit biased, more of an opinion video *with* information rundown.

Surprised my video ended up here of all places. The intended audience was never informed fans. It was meant for people largely ignorant to most things Skyrim.
Also, I know it's biased (I'm an elder scrolls fan after all), but I tried my best to stay as fair as possible.

On a personal note I'm disappointed you don't like how I sound, but I am glad you think I have a "dramatic movie trailer voice". =)

Only thing wrong in the video is that Radiant Story also affects the main quest, just not as much and only in some parts.

Still, a very good video. Insightful indeed and good for people that don't know much of the game.

Yeah that came to mind when I saw it. You're basically assuming all the new features and changes are improvements, atleast that's what I got out of it. I wrote a post on your video saying how it's not wise to give too much into the hype, cause I think it's better to wait for some gameplay and then judge. I gave into the hype with Oblivion and was slightly disappointed with the end result, what with silly things like the level scaling. Better to be positively surprised imo.

This video is awesome, a perfect vid for people that are still ignorant about how some of the gameplay will work. This would be an awesome sticky by the way

I can see how you got that feeling, but I attempted to deter people from coming to that conclusion by saying "It's yet to be seen weather or not these changes will work".
Also every time I say "improvement" I refer to tech changes. I suppose I didn't make that entirely clear. Technical improvements don't' always translate to game play improvements, thus possible confusion. =/

The total message I was going for was:
  • New game Skyrim
  • Big changes
  • Here's what they are
  • Bethesda has made great games so far, so try to trust them.

Aww man, I'd have been a lot more constructive if I thought you'd ever read my comments - no offense was intended at all.

And you have a super cool voice; just not the sort of voice I associate with unbiased anolysis. :)

It is a video that doesn't cite sources and that says one or two things that sound a bit off compared to what I have heard from official sources. Although I might agree with much of it, I would not trust it as a source of reliable information.

It doesn't have to cite sources most of it is common knowledge. Everything else is his opinion

Link excellent video enjoyed it very much. I believe you are on the right track with your sentiments for improvement. Change is a difficult thing for a running series whether it be a book, movie or a video game and I have empathy for many who can't put faith in the proposed changes for Skyrim.

The truth is I believe we are seeing innovation and evolution of the RPG series called Elder Scrolls and not a 'dumbing down' of the work. I have commented extensively elsewhere so I'll spare the thread a long winded post, but I believe you represent not just the compilation of confirmed information but an attitude towards giving Bethesda the benefit of the doubt about the changes. I have my own reason for giving Bethesda the benefit of the doubt that I won't get into here, but it's nice to see somebody else who is level headed about the changes Bethesda is proposing in this great series.

EDIT: Also about him not citing sources to his information, I have been thinking about compiling information with citations for a bit and would be happy to contribute something if it's needed. I didn't hear anything he said that wasn't true and I have been keeping up on Skyrim information for a while now.

I understand. But I'm just saying that trusting in them blindly is ill advised imo (not saying you are btw), atleast if you don't want to be disappointed. They are capaple of making odd decisions like thinking it is a good idea to implement a rather extreme level scaling. That's why I want to see all these new features and changes in action before I let myself be all giddy. Also the way they hyped up radient AI in Oblivion made it seem like it would the best thing since sliced bread, but in reality it wasn't really that impressive.

When the narrator talks about improvements in Radiant AI, he gives as an example two NPCs fighting over an item dropped by the player character. In the official sources, that example is given as something done through http://www.gameinformer.com/games/the_elder_scrolls_v_skyrim/b/xbox360/archive/2011/01/17/the-technology-behind-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim.aspx, never as something that happens through Radiant AI. As I said, some of what he says doesn't quite match what I have already heard from sources I trust more. The video is a nice-looking, well-delivered, and fairly accurate presentation, but I would not take everything it says for truth.

In http://www.oxm.co.uk/26155/bethesdas-todd-howard-on-elder-scrolls-5-skyrim/ article Todd Howard describes a scenario while bringing up both Radiant AI and Story. To me it seemed to illustrate the interaction between the two systems. In the specific scenario the weapon could be returned to due to radiant AI, and then the quest could still be available due to Radiant Story. I realize now that it's unclear which would be governing the situation though.

You're right though, I can't believe I overlooked that information in the game informer article. At least the information is true though, and the event's were only attributed to a different system.
